Question Bleeding 2 weeks after birth possibly TMI?

I am a little worried with my blood loss. I started to not have much just a brownie type discharge, then friday i got a lot, like it was trickling out of me??? I rang the ob who said it may be an infection but because i have a cold we cant be sure....she said monitor it for 48 hours and ring Monday.

So yesterday it died down and there wasn't much there but this afternoon it has has become heavy again, and my vagina is becoming quiet painful like throbbing iykwim. Kinda like period pain but 10 times worse but not in my tummy if that makes sense! I also passed a small clot yesterday too.

Does this sound normal? I am going to ring the ob in the morning to ease my mind but just wanted to ask you lovely ladies first!

i think if the pain is getting worse then you neeed to see your ob my friend had increasing pain issues and ended up with an abscess from the episitomy, not trying to scare you, but pain should decrease not increase hope your ok

Hope you're feeling better. How long is it taking for you to fill a pad? If you're going through more than one an hour, I would be calling Health Direct on 1800 022 222 and talking to them... if it is an infection from a tear or epi, then you want to get it sorted sooner rather than later. Sorry if that's a bit scarey... just going off my experience (we went to the hospital as I was freaking out from the loss a bit too much, and I ended up with strong a/biotics, and was fine after that!)

    Fingers crossed for you.

thanks girls! The pain only comes in the afternoons after doing things all day. The blood loss isnt filling a pad so spose its not really much?
Stitches are feeling fine no pain there?

Might just ring her in case! Better safe than sorry hey xx

Hi Boomba, I had a similar thing. At the 2 week pp, I was getting less and less blood, and then I had a shower one day and whoosh...lost a whole heap and then it was like a period. I had a check up for infection, but it was fine.

One thing my midwife said, was I might be doing too much, so I went back to bed. I know this is easier when you only have one, but can you try and get a little more rest? Its still early days.

Have you been on your feet a lot more in the last few days?
I had aching/ throbbing pain in the afternoons and evenings for a number of weeks after DS2 was born and the ob said it was due to varicose veins of the vulva. It wasn't a problem until I started being on my feet more so I didn't really notice for the first week or so when I had extra help. They must have gone away at some point as it doesn't hurt anymore.
My loss also went from browninsh and almost non existent to heavyish and red a few time in the first 6 weeks but everything was fine.
Best to get it checked but hopefully it is nothing too serious.
