Once a slow cooker - always a slow cooker?

Just thought I would get some opinions and other people's experiences.

When I was pregnant with DS, I started losing my plug on Xmas day, he was due on the 16th January. So that's like 37 weeks or something. From memory that continued until he was born at 39+1. Looking at his birth video the other day, I noticed that his head was quite cone shaped - could he have been engaged at that time too?

I went to 42 weeks with DD1, but I believe my mental state prevented me from going into labour.

I went to 41+5 with DD2 and was scared of labouring with her, so it might be possible I held that up as well? Maybe?

So based on that, and other people's experiences - am I right to have asked my mum to come down the day after my due date to watch the kids for me when I go into labour? Cos I'm just assuming that I'm a slow cooker and this next one will be 12-14 days over as well.

Anyone go over with a few and then on time or early with the next one?

Having no knowledge on the subject, I would think that you could very well go early like with your DS. In your other 2 births, you've identified a reason WHY you went over. In this one, you've already had a C section, and you've already had a VBAC, so there's no 'hidden element' y'know? So I would think you'd be in a calmer place to allow labour to start and progress naturally.

Thanks keike. Just thought I would add that DS was an elective c-section so I never went early with him, it was just a free space for my OB to slot me in

I went on time with the first, 5 days over with the 2nd, 10 days over with the 3rd and then 5 days early with the 4th.

I think it's just all so unpredictable, it's really hard to organise child care for the others.
ETA: Just wanted to add that I feel like this one could fall out any minute, lol.

I dunno! I went to 42 weeks with Bella and even then had to be induced so she would come outta there! But with this one I feel like I will go about 38 weeks or so but not have to wait till 42... dunno!

Marlene, gosh it really is all over the joint isn't it? This one doesn't feel like she'll drop out but I do have a lot of pressure sometimes and get quite achy down there!!

no idea, ds1 was 7 days over, ds2 was 3 weeks early altho the hos thought at birth his dates were wrong and was more likely a week over, never adjusted them. and dd was 9 days over. i think it depends on you and bub, theres always the chance she could stuff your plans and be either early or extramly late.

It's so hard to predict! My bubs were all a bit late, but they got 3 days less late each time (ITMS!). DS1 was 8 days overdue, DS2 was 5 days overdue and DD was 2 days overdue. I'm not going back for #4 just to find out if it comes 1 day early

My friend had to get induced with all 3 of her pregnancies. She wasn't nervous about labouring either so she's just a "slow cooker".

A lady at playgroup had to be induced with her 4. apparently all of them were overbaked! The Dr for her first just kept saying "You'll go when you're ready" but she felt that something was wrong. She was eventually induced at 42+1 (first child) but she's had issues with her daughter since. Since then she's demanded being induced!

I think some people are running on conventional ovens rather than "fan forced

My midwife said that she's becoming known for how late her clients go (43+ weeks) so I'm hoping her trend will help me get over 37 weeks LOL.

Mine were all late, my girls a bit more overcooked than my boys (going by appearance). I think you'd best settle in for the long haul

Personally (because you're a little like me) I'd plan to go over again. If bubble comes early it'll be a nice surprise

DD1 was due 12/4, was born 20/4. So 8 days over.
DD2 was due LMP 29/5, u/s 25/5. She was born 5/6, so was between 7 & 11 days over.

DS was a nice suprise Due LMP 10/3, u/s 6/3. He was born 8/3, so either 2 days early, or 2 days over, or just plain right on time!

Silly me thought one earlyish, the next one might be too! NO DD3 was 5 days over & with the dry skin & long finger nails she was definetely over

I knew DD2 would be a June baby, & suspected DD3 would be 10/10/10 (but was hoping she'd be 01/10/10. My kids have a thing about birthdate patterns )

I went to 39+6 with both babes I'm definitely assuming that I'll go right to term with this one - she'd better! Don't want her coming early and stealing S' birthday
