Braxton Hicks Vs Pre Labour Contractions

    Hi girls....

So I have 3 days to go till my due date and my "Braxton Hicks Contractions" have kind of gotten more frequent but still just the tightening and a little bit of back pain... nothing to complain about though! When do these turn into Pre Labour contractions and actually start to dilate the cervix?

I had a successful waterbirth VBAC with DS2 and my OB is not going to induce me but also hasn't checked to see if I'm dilating or anything, so I don't really know whats going on down there.... no mucus plug loss or anything but I hear that with the third baby things can happen quite quickly and I might not get a show at all!

Bit long winded I know... (what was the question again??)

    Hi Leeloo!

I got BH's from 14 weeks along, probably around ten per day.. then from about 36 weeks i started getting them, say, every ten minutes for an hour or two, then they'd stop, then start again, then stop. They were stronger and some actually hurt. My midwife said that this was pre-labour. When she did a stretch and sweep at 41 weeks i was already 3-4cm dialated and fully thinned out. I ended up having my bub at 41+5. Oh, and i didn't lose my show til after the stretch and sweep, only a bit of mucous plug from about 36 weeks (TMI).

So good news for you! Your body is probably already doing the work to make your labour easier!!

    Goodluck with your birth!
