Question Do all your labours usually start the same way?

I've only gone into labour twice now and both of them started with a really weak contraction at 5am.

Is it possible to have that happen again, like, does that actually happen or is it just completely random that I had two start exactly the same way and its more normal for them all to start different ways?

Has anyone had more than 2 spontaneous labours that all started the same way?

Not me. My first started with waters breaking at 2.30 am, contractions started soon after and by 3.5 hours later were strong and frequent enough for me to go to hospital (where I was 5-6 cm dilated). Second was a couple of days of pre-labour and contractions gradually increased in intensity and frequency. This was the only one where I had any doubt about whether I was in labour. Last started with waters breaking at 6.30 am, then contractions started but very infrequent and weak. This time it took almost 6 hours before I was on my way to the hospital. So they were all quite different for me.

    Nope .
DD1 started as period pain all day and then contractions started at 6pm , and DD was born at 2:30 am
8 and a half hour labour

DD2 I had a water leak at 5pm which kept leaking until contractions started at 940 pm and DD was born at 1040
    1 hour labour

    Different here too

DS1 41+5 weeks had a hospital appointment for post dates check up, had cervidil inserted and told it shouldn't bring on labour but ripen my cervix so it's favourable for induction in 2 days, went shopping, went home, cooked dinner all the usual stuff, sat down and at 9.30pm had a giant urge to clean. Started getting ready for bed at 10.30 and had my first contraction at 11pm. DS1 was born at 12.48am - 1 hr 48 min labour

DS2 38+5 weeks woke up from an amazing sleep, looked at the time. Bang on 7am. Then BAM first contraction. DS2 was born at 9.26am - 2 hr 26 min labour

I don't know if this qualifies me since DD's labour/birth was induced. But my waters started leaking with her. I didn't actually have contrax or anything, so after 36 hours they induced me.

DS1 labour was LONG. I had prelabour for about 1-2 weeks prior, I have no idea when actual labour started. But when I got to the hospital (just hoping for some panadene and a sleeping tablet, lol) I was told I was 8cm dialated and bub was with us in just over an hour later.

DS2's labour started slowly with light contrax at about 4am which slowly got bigger until he was born at 11.30pm.

Interesting question. Both my two labours were the pretty much the same too. Both started with me losing my plug in the morning after breakfast then very mild contractions that built up. DS2s labour was just a lot quicker. I wonder if a 3rd would be the same?

mine probably don't qualify as they were both inductions.

DD1 i had two lots of gel put in. the 2nd lot were put in at 10pm and my waters broke on their own at 12.50am and i was in established labour by 1.00am (no synto required) and she was born at 8am

DD2 i was already 3cm dilated so requested arom (8am) and was in established labour by 10.30am (again, no synto required) and she was born at 3.25pm

Yeah both of mine were really similar but just Eden's was longer - 13.5 hours all up, and Sahti's was 7 hours. My midwives don't think this one will be longer than 5 hours, so will be interesting if I go into labour at 5am and have it at 10! LOL

My second and third labours were very similar. Both started around 8am but with ds2 the contractions were strong and regular right from get go and with dd I had a lot of niggly pre labour type contractions that ramped up to active labour at around 4. Her head was still quite high the day before at my midwife appointment so i think that was all getting her into a good position. Once she was it was all on! He was born at 5 and she was born at 5:51. Ds1 labour was completely different. Waters breaking at 3am and induced after 12 hours due to no contractions. All of my kids were also born on the start of a specific week. DS1 38 weeks, DS2 41 weeks and DD 40 weeks.

Both my labours were exactly the same except DD2s was faster. Mild contractions starting when I woke up.

I know you said more than two but both my labours started completely differently.

Moo - no prelabour, no signs of impending labour except for a bloody show earlier in the day. Had my first contraction at 7pm, regular contractions continued on at 15 minutes apart and progressively got closer etc. Water did not break until labour was well established over 15 hours later. He was 3 days 'overdue'. Labour was 22 hours.

Buster - prelabour went on for weeks! Drove me crazy! My waters broke one morning with no contractions following for several hours. Was in hospital having monitoring when contractions started up again, irregularly, until it all fizzled out again! Stayed in hospital just to be sure and overnight the same prelabour irregular stuff started up yet again...but this time it all resulted in birth lol. He was 10 days early and his labour was only a couple of hours.

    3 extremely similar here.

    All spontaneous.
1 - first contraction 10pm. Got serious around 2am. Long time til baby though.
2 - first contraction 2am. Got serious straight away. Baby not long after.
2 - tiny leak in waters around midnight. First contraction 3am. Serious immediately. Baby soon after.

    Mine started differently.

DS1 started when I finished re-alphabetising the bookshelves, DH helped me stand I (I was sitting on a low stool to finish the bottom shelves) and my waters broke, around 5.40pm on a Friday.

DS2 started when the Ob chopped my stomach open, and fetched him.
