Cord clamping-Help plz

I hope this is the right section.

Now i know theres alot of info on here and on the web....but i need some advice!

The other night i said to DH 'With this bub i wanna wait til the cord stops pulsing before its cut'. And his answer was 'Why would u wanna do that'. I said a few reasons why and he wanted to know would the small amount of blood that bub would get... be worth the wait?

I said yes it would...but the convo ended there. I really would like to do this and i hope it does happen.... but some advice on how to get DH to understand would be much appreciated!!

Im sure he listened to me.... but dont see the benefits i guess u could say of why i wanna do it. I want a whole different kind of birth this time... but have no idea how and what i want. Im so confused

I had a similar converstation with my Dh when I brought it up this time round. His response was 'why would you want to do it any different to the other three times?' I just toldh im the benefits and the fact that the other three times I didn't even know you could do it. I also said why cut it and have to cord blood go to waste - we can't donate it out here (which is something we did want to do all along) so why can't the baby benefit from it?

We are not cutting the cord until after it has finished pulsating. If you choose to do that too then i think you have to have natural third stage (no syntocin, placenta comes out when its ready). You may have to push pretty hard at the hospital for that as syntocin is pretty much routine. I believe this is 'just in case' the mother haemorrhages. Which doesn't make sense to me because my homebirth midwife doesn't do active management of the third stage and surely if haemorrhage was such a big risk then homebirth would be the least ideal place for it to happen??

Just a couple of reason why we are choosing not to cut the cord this time:
the baby gets deprived of almost half its blood volume with early clamping, if they already have low blood this can be fatal.
infant anaemia can result from early clamping.
baby is weak due to less blood.
