    Do animals know?

I'm staying at my parents place and they currently have 3 dogs and a cat. They seem to be giving me more than normal attention and are taking turns to sleep with me at night and when I rest.

Do you think they know I'll go into labour soon? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Would love to know others experiences :-)

no experience to share you. They love you and like the stay with you. talk to them. My friend has a cat that it can understand her feeling totally. When she feels sad, the cat keep quiet and sleep. How clever! As long as they consider you as friends, i think they understand what will happen on you.

Animals have an incredible sense of smell and therefore can actually smell the pheromone changes in your body when you are pregnant apparently. Very cool. People often remark how their cats or dogs either won't leave them alone and sit on them or won't come near them during pregnancy. As for labour, don't see why not. There is a mass of different hormones and chemical reactions going on in your body immediately prior labour, so I would suppose that they would pick up on that too!

My dog never sits. It runs constantly. But since I fell pregnant it just sits next to me if I'm outside while still protecting dd when she's in the yard

My dog sits at my foot when I cry, animals just know I guess. It's very comforting

I laboured at home for pretty much the whole day and our dog stayed by my side for nearly the whole time. Normally she'd just curl up somewhere but she stayed right by me, but both DH and I kept thinking she looked really worried! Maybe it was the groaning towards the end that was freaking her out....

We believe to this day she knew something big was going on. She slept with one of my shoes each night I was in hospital too.

    Thanks everyone.

One of the dogs particularly is sitting with me and giving me strange looks! He is very sweet and is currently lying on my feet.

The dog we had that died earlier this year was constantly attracted to pg women. My other dog is protective of me, maybe a little more than usual, but hard to tell.

Our animals give me more attention close to when Im due.
We have a dog and 2 cats. The dog gets very loving towards me towards the end, even more so than normal for her. And she gets really protective of me too. Our boy cat, well he just starts to follow me around, will always be in the same room as me, and he will sleep under the cot as well.As the date gets closerr they both amp it up and it gets to the point where Im getting over their love! (the girl cat has it in for me, and she just keeps her nose out of joint with anything that concerns me!)
