Red face Do I seriously need to pack nappies?

DD was in NICU and SCBU for the first 6 wks of her life - so I never needed to bring her nappies as the hospital supplied them...

I'm going in for a c/s tomorrow morning, and just triple checking the list the hospital has suggested I pack - included I should bring my own tissues and nappies.

I'm more than happy too BYO nappies - but was just wondering - did you pack nappies for your newborn or did your hospital supply them....

really depends on hospital policy - ours supplied cloth terry flats for the time we were in hospital - but some don't and you have to supply your own. i would take them and have them there - it's better to have and not need, than to need and not have kwim?

Yep, had to bring ours. I think there was 2-3 in the sample bags they gave us but that didn't last long at all

My hossy have us one pack of Huggies and once that ran out we were on our own, but they lasted until we got home and I was in for 6 days. We had to take our own wipes though.

We didn't bring any at all. There was a full pack of newborn ones provided for us (we ended up taking the rest of the pack home as we didn't get through then!). JB - am surprised because I know we went to the same hospital!

was just discussing this with my DH going to ring hops to see what I need to bring I know the hosp I was supposed to have Jack in and where I will have this one 3 yrs ago all we needed to bring was a dummy if we wanted to use one and a going home outfit... we were flown out 9 hrs north and we needed our own clothes etc, which of course we only had a couple of outfits SCN supplied the clothes in there but once on ward we were on our own, also they supplied nappies in SCN but not on ward, formula in SCN but not on ward get the picture

I'm going there and demanding a packet of nappies! That is weird... maybe we did have a packet of nappies although I do remember DP having to rush off to the chemist the next day to buy some... maybe we were just REALLY bad at nappies and got through a packet at record speed

We didn't see a midwife until the morning after birth (late night bubba) so maybe they thought we had already had someone come and sort all of that out. I do know I didn't pack any so that makes me think the booklet didn't say too? Although, she was two weeks early so we weren't exactly super prepared!

We were in WCH, but DD was in SCBU and there they were all supplied, in the room I remember seeing some terry flats and those little banana's in pyjama's outfits, there were some sample dippy nappies (which I was told to take when I left ). Seeing as I never had her in my room, I don't know if they were going to give anything else.

We used water and little pieces of stuff to clean DD bum in SCBU.

When we transferred DD had just received a new packet under her crib and the MW grabbed everything from under the cot including the new packet of nappies, scissors, tape, covital etc

At our Private hosy we were given one packet "officially" but as DD was still considered SC (even though we got to room - as she was the only SC bub and it was easier for them to have her in the room with us, we were provided more, got to take 2/3 packet home, so never had to bring any in either I can't remember what we used to wipe her bum at our Priv Hosy hehe.

Good luck tomorrow! We had DS at WCH and he was in NICU so they supplied everything but I do know that bubs staying on post-nat ward with you will need to have your own supply of nappies, wipes and tissues.

They sell them in the shops in the WCH and of course there is a supermarket up the road BUT you dont want to be caught short.

Our hospital supplies all nappies (sposies only), wipes, clothing and any other necessities for bubs. It's a private hospital though - a SJOG.

The public hosp we attended in Perth supplied all the Huggies nappies and even gave us a take home supply! Apparently once opened nappies have been in someone's room they either go home with them (the unused ones!!) or have to be binned for hygiene reasons. Interesting what people's responses have been.
