    emergency c/s

Just curious. Can I put in my birth plan that if I have an emergency c/s, I want my tubes tied at the same time?

Yes you can. I had a gf recently give birth and she was asked by the dr that if she ended up with an emergency c/s if she wanted it done. It's quite common practice.

Thanks so much! I don't want a c/s, but if I have to have one for whatever reason, I'd rather not go under the knife yet again to get my tubes tied. I hate anesthetic and I take forever to get it all out of my system. Oh happy days .

yes, my ob and i discussed the possibility of removing my ovarian cyst should i need an emergency c/s with my first pregnancy. i did indeed need an emergency c/s and she did the cystectomy at the same time. took a little longer than just a c/s and apparently some of the pain in the first few days could be attributed to the cystectomy, but im glad now that i had it done as in the long run it has been much better for me, i got rid of the cyst and associated pain it had caused me for years and i didnt have to go under again, plus i got reassured it wasnt cancerous as well.
goodluck i hope you dont need a c/s

Do you need to have counselling for that type of decision? No idea, just thinking aloud.

No idea! I spoke to my GP and he has already put me on the public waiting list at the same hospital. But I will ask my midwife to put it in their notes so that it doesn't seem like a spur of the moment decision.

Just make sure that you have signed the pink slip (giving authorisation to be sterilised) before you have had morphine otherwise they can't do it as you can't legally sign the paperwork.

Thanks being said my SIL wanted to have her tubes tied with her elective c/s but her surgeon was against it as he said that due to the amount of swelling sometimes they aren't successful and that he preferred to do them as keyhole surgery at a later time.

That being said I also know of a lot of women who have the tubes tied at the same time as a c/s.

I might talk to my OB about this.... If Beez is born healthy (and I end up with another c/s) then I don't want any more kids. But, being only 20yo, I doubt that they'll tie my tubes.
