Thought that I would nice and share this little bit of information with you all.

During the time of Hippocrates a long third stage was treated with a combination of dried placenta, horse testicles and urine from the husband of the laboring mother.

I sure am glad that I am birthing now and not back then.

LOL, wow - but why?

To speed up the third stage of labour I guess.

I already knew of the whole placenta part in it. It's supposed to stop any excessive bleeding from occuring, or slows it down if it does occur.
