Whats the difference between loosing your plug, and the bloody show?
I guess the title says it all.
Whats the difference between loosing your plug, and the bloody show? I read about these things, and some books speak as if they are the same thing, and some treat them as different. Whats the deal?
when i lost my mucous plug it was like a blob of yucky goo with brownish streaks through it.
I didnt get a bloody show til i was in established labour, and I thought something was wrong, went to the loo and lots of bright red blood so I called the midwife in and she said was only my show.
As a midwife we refer to a "bloody show" as an indicator someone is nearing or fully dialted. Some people want to be tricky and will have this much earlier then this during there labour so its not always accurate indicator to the progress of labour but most times it is. We have people calling to ask and say they have a bloody show which is the mucous plug so they can also be described as the plug. I guess its the way you say it as to what meaning you have. I may say "have you had a show" or "have you lost your plus" and I mean exactly the same thing.
Hmmm I thought they were the same thing?!
I just had a big snotty glob (pretty gross LOL) that fell out after I pee'd when I was in hospital.... it was really slippery with red and brown stuff in it.... pretty gross LOL but normal I was told!! oooh not long Candice.... can't wait to hear!
With my first I had nothing then no2 I had this pink and brown stained mucous that kept coming for about 20hrs before my waters broke. It was really gross it was there when I wiped and if I didn't wipe enough I could feel it in my pants. I ended up going to the hospital cause it couldn't stop coming and thats when my waters broke in the hospital and then I wasn't allowed to leave.
I also thought they were estentially the same thing. Both your plug just with out without blood.
I guess the only dif would be if I found plug no blood wouldn't stress but if I found blood i would stress and end up calling hosp/ob. Not for any reason other than it's blood.
BTW I never noticed losing my plug or any bloody show before or during labour.
