Question Hep B And Vit K injections at birth

When Mason was born, I refused the Hep B injection. I am so glad I did. And he never had to have a catch up one as the first one is apparently "JIC" anyway!

Now with the Vit K, I have now heard the bubs can have it orally. Is this true? Is this at every hosp? I would much rather my bub have no injections at birth

Vit K can be orally done....normally 3 doses i think it is. I know Monash do it, and id assume most hospitals would as well.

I was coming in this morning to ask about these!!!!

I too, will not be getting the Hep B for little girl, and will only get the Vit k IF its a traumatic or bruising birth...

I really dont like the idea of a blood clotting drug for her if its not needed, esp when in weeks of breastfeeding, bub gets the same amount.... So I'm kinda torn on the Vit K cause you can get it done orally.... To Vit K or not Vit K, that is the question!!!

We gave DD#2 oral vit k - no dramas with doing it that way. Colostrum is super high in vit k anyway, so if your bf thats a great way for them to get it!
