A couple of threads at the moment regarding photography and it got me to wondering... Did you have someone take photo's of your birth/s? And if you did, did you have 'action shots' ie. photos of your vagina during delivery?
My mum was in charge of the camera during my labours and deliveries. I gave her strict instructions that there were to be no photos of my vagina. I don't have an issue with vagina's - my own or anyone else's! - I just didn't want photos taken of my own.
i think if you knew that the photos were yours and your only to look at (not splashed across fb for an eg for friends to look at) .... i wouldnt mind my mum taking the photos
I had a friend take step by step photo's of me birthing Ds2 on the hospital bed. I shared them with however wanted to see them. With Ds3 a midwife took 3 blurry shots but I shared them too. This time round a friend who is a photographer is going to take my maternity, birth and newborn pics
My doula took photos for me. We discussed before hand whether I wanted crowning shots etc and I decided I did. I wasn't sure I could bring myself to look at them, but I figured I'd rather have the choice than regret not having them. I love them now! Obviously they are just for us, but I think it's amazing to be able to actually see what my body achieved
Yep, my doula photographed my sons births, vagina shots and all! I havent shown anyone though. I wasnt sure anyone would be terribly interested....
I wish i had more photos of dd's birth. I didnt have a doula for her birth and dh didnt take any pics of her actual birth.
My midwives took photos of my last birth, and had the business end in there! I have now lost those photos and I wish that I still had them. There's no evidence to prove that she came out that way LOL
We didn't plan it but there was no mirror so th me took pictures of him crowning, coming out and on my tummy and cord cut , weighed I love them so much even him coming out I find fascinating def doing again but nothing professional
First photo was taken of my DD on my chest skin to skin. I had my eyes squished shut the whole pushing phase and I didn't see anything, was offered a mirror declined, was offered to see placenta again declined. I did see DH cut the cord but it's pretty blurry memory. I am glad I didn't get anymore pics. Especially of my vagina as she came out, but that's just me it took me 6 days to get a mirror out and check out the state of play down there with stitches and stuff.
I have lots of gory action shots from DD1's birth, just taken by our doula. I love them! I can't believe my body stretched like that and didn't even graze. Some are pretty detailed and could probably be used by someone for educational purposes lol. I don't show people but if they wanted to see I would, I don't have a problem with that. Heck, our doula even got shots of my haemorrhoids from pushing and poop coming out! Not really my faves, those ones.
DD2 we didn't have professional photography either. That's probably my only regret both times, not having proper photography. Definitely will next time. DD2 was a water birth so it's not very graphic, there's even a pic of her coming out on my FB.
My sister took photos and videos at both our DD's birth and I'm so thrilled we have them. Watching a baby being born makes you view the vagina in a completely different way. I felt even more amazing as a woman and mother for birthing my girls after watching it full frontal
I wish I had more photos from both of mine. We have shots and a little video of me in labour with Amelia, but none of the actual birth. Next time I might ask someone to be a dedicated photographer. Probably not a professional (too exxy), but just someone who wants to be there and can work a camera
Yep student midwife and mum took photos. Dd has hers put in a book (full action). It's her favourite book she also has watched her birth video as well.
