Could there be some reason my babies want to be posterior?

Both of my children were posterior at birth. My first was anterior until the day before I went into labour & my second was anterior until some time during the labour. I use optimal fetal positioning, make sure that I am not reclining or doing any of the things that cause bub to go posterior, but for some reason they want to flip around right when they need to be anterior. Is it possible that there is something with me internally that is causing them to prefer this position? How would I find out?

I have no idea but I have the same situation as you - DD1 and DS were both anterior until the second that I went into official labour and they both turned posterior. Ouch! DD2 decided to be breech but my labour was so completely different with her (after over 40 hours with DD1, I was fully dilated after 40 mins with DD2 and it didn't hurt anywhere near as much - DD2 was born by emergency c-sect though as they wouldn't let me give birth naturally due to her position).

I think the official position on having OP babies is that there is no reason for it medically, but a midwife suggested to me this time, there must be something about the shape and position of my uterus that means all my babies want to be in odd positions for birth. I don't think anything is proven though and I don't know if they can tell.

After DD1, I thought it was something about me and the things I was doing that made her OP so I spent a lot of time with my head down and bum in the air in the lead up to labour with DS, I spent very little time sitting or lounging on soft chairs and couches and did lots of walking. None of it made any difference.

Sorry I couldn't be more useful in my answer, but I thought it might help you to know that other people are in the same boat.

I was once told that most Aboriginal women give birth to posterier babies, and possibly the shape of their pelvis is the reason behind this. (I don't know how true this is, but it was a midwife I respect who spent a lot of time working with Aboriginal ladies and she said they thought it was strange that a baby would be born not looking at their mother's face.)

Anyway my point it, perhaps your pelvis is shaped in such a way that your babies prefer this position? I don't know how you would find this out though. Are you planning another baby? If you are perhaps a chiropractor could help you with your pelvis prior to labour to help keep bub in the most comfortable (for you) position.

Just Me, thank you, it does make me feel better to know it's not just me

I am planning another baby at some point, Traveller, but am undecided at the moment if it will be a c/s or VBA2C.
