How long until labour?

Had an internal check today and the ob says my cervix is ripe and I am dilating. Dh says he heard 2cm but I missed that.

Does this mean labour may be imminent or how does it work??

It doesn't really mean anything as far as prediction of when bub will be here. YOu can go from 2 to 10 in an hour or you can stay at 2 for weeks.

SOme use 4cm as a definitive of being in labour, but again there is alot of variance in what comes next. In my last birth, i had no vaginal exams and my baby still came out! I just don't see the point in them just to check where you are at.

Could be soon or could be a bit longer. I was 2-3cm for two weeks and thought it would happen any day, but ended up being a week overdue.

unfortuntly - your not going to know until it happens happens (the contractions are a big indicator)

No way to know, sorry! Chances are, if it's your first baby, you'll be waiting more than not. How far along are you?

ETA oh, just saw that you're 36&3. Hmm, you most likely have 4-6 weeks to go then I mean, you may go early, but that's not always common.

did they do the internal to check where you were at because of the possible induction? while it's no indicator that you will be in labour at a certain point, it's a positive sign if you do end up having to be induced. sounds like your body is doing exactly what it's meant to & i hope spontaneous labour happens for you soon

Yeah he did the internal because I the gd in case they have to induce.

Really hope it all happens naturally!!

Sorry for the bad news but I was 3cm at 31 weeks and I'm still here waiting. Was on bed rest for a while, but have been very busy over the last couple of weeks.

I think the waiting when you're so close to the end can be one of the most frustrating things of pregnancy. Some days I'm managing to just go with the flow. Other days not so much ;-)

Still hanging in there was having contractions roughly hourly yesterday but they have died down. Started again this morning. Just have to play the game now lol!

Dh keeps telling the bubba to hold on he hasn't finished her room... Maybe she is super obedient lol!!
