Id love to hear from midwives, doulas, (or anyone who knows from their own expereince) who could tell me on avarage how many stitches are required to repair a mid-line 2nd degree tear? To this day I do not konw how many I had and my OB has no record of it apparently. Not really sure why I want to know, I guess just to have a benchmark for next time, etc.
Apparently in about 7 months I will be a qualified midwife - yikes!

Amy, I had a 2nd degree tear with Cooper and Dennis still to this day has not told me exactly how many stitches I had. He did say that as it can be one long continuos stitch, it is hard to tell. I asked him on about 4 seperate occasions, cause it was importnant for me to know as well.
Having said that, I went on to have no stitches with Angus, so huni, you may not have to worry about stitches this time round at all, and have an awesome recovery!
I asked the same question! He said "oh just a few" which isnt particularly descriptive. My mum said she thinks she saw him do 6, in two lots of 3 as I tore in a couple of spots.
