Im planing on taking 2 weeks off before the birth of Bubby number 2. DD came spot on her due date but im just wondering how many people actually go into labour earlier?. I hear a lot of stories of 36+ weeks but just wondering how common it is...just in case?
I guess everyone is different but i had DD at around 38wks and have been told to expect #2 around the same time if not earlier.. not sure what they base this on, the might be worried she's going to fall out...
My cousins has had 3 babies and ALL went 1wk+ over.
Hope everything goes well and you give yourself enough rest time before hand!
There really are no rules about this - some women who go late may go early next time and visa versa. Bubs will come when bubs is ready to come. Personally I would take mat leave at 36wks not for the fear of early labour, but just so you can be fully rested and organised etc. Mine came at 40+1, 39+6, 40 and 40+4wks
People thought I was being slack going on leave at 34 weeks but it just fitted in with the end of term (I work in an ed. setting) and I was hanging for a break.
Bubs made her entrance at 35+2. So much for my break!
With DS, I finished work at 37weeks, he arrived at 39w+6 - I was so annoyed, because I was sure that I'd have another week or so of being pg, and I had so many things planned for that last week
This time I'm going to stop work at about 36 weeks, cos I don't reckon I'll have enough energy to cope with a 2 1/2 yo & a big tummy for much longer. And I won't be counting on going "late" this time.
I was convinced I was going to be at least a week late - but nope, she came about 3 days early! . I think you're better to take more time off then too little, if that helps any!
