    I think things are happening.....

    Just after some opinions...
Yesterday i had strong Braxton Hicks on and off all day (this has been the norm for a few weeks now) and lots of AF like cramping.
I woke up this morning at about 5am with uncomfortable contractions coming around every 7 mins. I managed to sleep through some of them but some of them were strong enough to wake me up. They started coming about every 6mins by about 7:30am and started getting stronger, so much so that i would have to focus on my breathing while i have one. I still have constant AF like pains and lower back ache as well as lots of lose poos (sorry TMI )
Now in the last hour the contractions seem to have slowed down to coming every 12-13mins and lasting for about 50-60seconds but are still quite intense and seem to be getting stronger.
I know the difference between Braxton Hicks and real contractions but i'm not entirely sure this is the real thing... They feel very similar to the contractions i had in early labour with DS (starting at the back and moving round to my bump, lots of pressure in lower back/vagina region) but i'm not sure since they are still irregular.
I'm thinking i might call DH to come home soon because i'm finding it impossible to relax during contractions with my 2 year old running around.
Has anyone had irregular contractions early on in labour? Do you think this could be it?

It sounds like very early labour to me. I had irregular contractions at the start of both my labours. They started at 4am both times! DS2 was born at 9:41pm the same day that the contractions started (DS1 was born 37 hours later - yuck!).

Getting your DH to come home is a great idea so you can use the time to rest as much as possible while he takes care of your DS.

Best of luck! Try and have a nap if you can!

it does sound promising, and def doesnt sound like BH anymore!

you might find that once someone comes to help with DS, that the contrax increase back up again...(mine slowed down when DH was sent home...ITMS).

the back-ache and loose movements are definately positive signs that things are making way for bubs!

    good luck!

Thanks guys, they've started coming around every 5mins but are now only lasting about 40 seconds, does that sound right?
I don't want to get my hopes up because i've had BH come at 10mins apart all day lately.. but like i said this feels very different to BH.. I guess i'm a little nervous that i'll get DH home and everything will stop

One thing I was told was to take a couple of panadol, and if they don't take the edge off, then it's probably the real deal. But if you want to just keep going as you are, without any pain relief (not that panadol really counts as pain relief kwim) then maybe you could try a warm shower?

If they fell different to BH's then they will definitely be contractions. Don't worry if they stop or not when your DH comes home, you still need the rest!

still sounds like progress to me...

try not to worry about getting DH home from work, even if things do slow down, this is a time about you and your little one and take ALL the time you guys need! he'll totally understand, and i am sure that he would rather go home, find a false alarm, then not get called and miss the beginning of a new life entering this world! (i know that my DH was bummed that he wasnt there when the real deal started as the hospy sent him home telling us that i wasnt really in labour..pooey to them!).

best of luck (and get lots and lots of cuddles from your two (soon to be 3 boys!)

It's sounding like it could be the real thing this time. I had AF pains & toilet trips like that on the day I went into labour before the contractions started.

Mine were all over the place whilst in prelabour - at one stage quite regular then they backed off, regular again then backed off. This happened over the afternoon & up til 9pm when things really kicked in and became regular. My contractions never got longer than 30 seconds at home (but were pretty painful, panadeine forte only took the edge off) and I was 6cms when I arrived at hossy at 3am.

Don't worry about getting DH home. He wont mind if it's a false alarm. If it's not a false alarm then you need to be getting all the rest you can. You could always call a friend or relative to come help out if you aren't ready to call DH home yet.
