Has anyone gone back and read over your labour/birth details and wondered about a few things?
my student midwife asked for my 2 pervious labour/birth details and as i was reading over them there were a few things i read that i didnt know about
with my 1st my waters were bloodstained (both time my waters have been broken by a midwife)
i had a post partum haemorrhage
and with my 2nd my placenta was gritty
and theres a couple of other things aswell
i really wish at the time with both labours everything was explained
it has taught me to really ask question this time
Yes, i had this happen when i read my birth details with #6, it had under birth complications "precipitate labour", i had no idea what this meant, it means a really fast labour, under 4 hrs i think (mine was 1hr 24 mins). I didnt understand why this was a birth complication so i asked my CHN and she said its because everything happens way too rapidly. Well it explained why it had taken me a week to remember what happened during the birth, it was because i went into shock and my mind temporarily blocked it out.
And what did i do with #7? Went on to have an even faster precipitate labour at 42mins.
I do agree it would be nice if they explained to you what happened while u were in there so you could ask questions.
I just got mine about a fortnight ago and I was really excited. Opened it up after paying $33 and it said nothing!!! The only thing its said was 'Live young with NAD', 'Father cut cord' and 'baby near breast to start BF'. That was it, no notes about labour at all, except that discharge paper thingo.
I had to ring the hospital administration department, they faxed me a form to complete, paid my cash and they sent it out to me. But mine were a waste apparently!
