I'd be going for a walk if it was me. Up some steps if you can find them. Best of luck.![]()
Ok, so with my last labour my waters starting leaking during light contractions, but because I was group B strep + I had to go to hosp to be monitored etc. I started getting contractions but after 17hrs I only just got to 4cm so they had to put me on the syntocynin.
Bub ended up distressed after a long & intense labour & was in special care for a few days.
Im 39+4 today & last night I had a little leak - about 20mLs then no leakage overnight but a bit more jellyish fluid this morn. I've spoken to mw & neither of us are sure if its waters yet so im just monitoring it.
Id really like to avoid the synto so if it is my waters leaking i have to get things moving naturally.
Do you think i should go walking, nipple stim ... Try to get contractions happening? Or just relax, wait & see???

If they're not sure (and I guess haven't checked) then you're not technically 'on the clock' yet, right? That gives you more time.
Maybe try some activity and see if it does anything, but otherwise rest. Hopefully you'll be meeting your baby very soon!
Oh how exciting!! I agree with what's been said so far![]()
All the best x
Been for a big walk & I'm getting light contractions, but nothing to write home about. Time has come to go to the hosp. Unless contractions start in the next 12hrs or so I'll be on the synto. I'm starting a new thread to ask if anyone has had synth without pain relief. I'd like to avoid an epi but not sure if contractions can be managed on synto without relief???
Why are you having to hurry along so much?
I'll answer in your other thread...
Hi blackstar. You are sounding exactly the same as my first labour. I had leaking fluid and I just couldn't establish my labour so I had to be induced. I had the synto infusion and I had a drug free labour. I spent the huge majority of my labour in the shower (I had telemetery monitoring - ask for this). You can still do all the positions you want too - it just might take a bit of positioning. I was only on the bed for the actual birth because that is where I felt most comfortable at the time.
My second birth was also induced as my DS refused to join us earth side. This labour was also completely drug free. I spent a lot of time in the shower with this labour too. Both of my labours were just beautiful. You can do it!!! You can have a drug free labour!! You can do it!!!
Rest up this arvo and tonight. Nice bath, dinner with hubby and enjoy your last night together before you meet your baby. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
Best of luck.
I had synto and only gas which I am sure was actually helping because it focused my breathing. So much so that when I moved to the bathroom thus time and couldn't take the gas I took the bite valve and sucked and bit minus the gas. Good luck, how very exciting
Marcellus - I'm being hurried along because I tested positive to group b strep. The rules are that if you're not in established labour when your waters break you've got about 24hrs before they induce. It's because of higher risk of infection with bub. I'll also have to be on antibiotics between now and the bub being born.
It wasn't my waters! Apparently it was just a heavy show that's coming through in parts. There's now some blood streaking, which means my cervix is doing something...
But good news that I don't need to be induced & can now come home ti labour naturally. Now to get the show on the road good and proper with some real contractions!
YAY for no induction...
And a big YYAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! for the start of your show babe!!! Wont be long and little one will be in your arms, well done!!! xoxox
Just had a read through this thread blackstar
Awesome news that it wasn't your waters!! Sounds similar to the situation I was in 10ish months ago![]()
Good luck with everything, sounds like not long to go now
x
Ok, I thought there was some doubt as to whether your waters had broken.
Anyway - all the best! Hope it goes well for you and baby is in your arms soon
ETA - too slow Marcellus! Well that's good news
