Amother thread just posted has reminded me to ask this question.
I am wondering what plan of attack if any you took re your waters breaking?
Cause from the sounds of it, things may get a little, umm, damp, shall we say?
Now its not woolies floor that I am so concerned about, more the upholstery in my car and the matress on my bed.
I should I garbage bag my car seat or will a towel do?
And what about my matress? can I get plastic sheets in queen size? cause our matress cost a bomb and I really dont like the idea of it being flooded......
What did you do? or am I being paranoid?

You can just buy a cheap plastic shower curtain and pin it over your mattress (put your sheet over the top) to protect it. And sit on a towel in your car

My waters never broke until towards the end of labour both times. And even then it was just a trickle, kind of disappointing really LOL!

We've got a waterproof mattress protector on our queen bed that we put on about 10 weeks ago..... we also have a few beach towels in the car!!!

I do worry a bit every time I go to the shops by myself and think how embarrassing it would be if my waters broke but ah well, i'll worry about that if and when it happens!

i have a tarp in my car that i sit on (under the seat cover) and one in DH's car.
the bed...well...yeah...i spend THAT much time getting out of it to pee...i will most likely put a garbo bag under the sheet (or doona 'cus its been sooo HOT!)...and pin it or something there...
as for if they broke out in the street i'd laugh and waddle off..and maybe even try to get a photo of some ones face! haha

As soon as my waters broke, I put a extra thick pad on and sat on a towel on the way to the hospital. Mind you the pad was soking once I got there (sorry if that's too much info lol). I was lucky enough that my waters broke when I got out of bed rather than in bed, but like the other girls said it would be a good idea to put something down.

Mine didn't break until i was in hospital and had been in labour for about 6 hours.

I did however think that maybe my water had broken when i was out for coffee, but no, turns out i just wet myself! Apparently this is a common occurence in pregnancy!! Was pretty pleased with myself for having a towel in the car then!

Yeah at the end I wore maternity pads jic and had a towel on the front seat of the car. I also had a few towels on that part of the bed jic. I also kepts a newborn disposable nappy with me at all times, in my handbag or in the nappy bag. That was another BB's hint that newborn nappy's are great for the gushes. TBH they were perfect for the first few days afterwards as well

Mine broke at 7am and trickled until 7pm when they gushed! So I was fine with a normal pad for the day .

I wish I had thought of the shower curtain for the bed. We have a lovely yellowish stain on our matress now from my waters breaking with DD. You should have seen the look the removalists gave to us when they moved the mattress. It was like ummmmmm who has a bladder problem, I was quick to explain it was my waters, don't think they liked that much better, lol.

I couldn't imagine how embarrassed I would have been if it was in public, mine broke with a huge gush.

I went with a mattress protector, which I kept on for the first few months also as newborn bubs tend to make a bit of a mess too and it is really delicious to spend time in bed cuddling, feeding an just hanging out bonding with bub.

It was not something I considered before the arrival of DD, I only considered waters breaking as my reason for protecting my mattress, but I was so glad I had it on when DD did an almighty spew that first time!

We had a few towels on the mattress in the appropriate area and I always carried a towel with me when I went out in the last few weeks. There was one in the car from about 36wks on. I also carried spare undies and skirt/trousers JIC.

I had an incontinence pad on later in pg with DD2. My waters didn't break by themselves though, but and incontnence pad can hadle sudden bursts of liquid.

A good mattress protector is handy anyway for milk/blood leaks afterwards anyway and a number of other things. I was lucky cause I was out of bed by the time my broke. They gushed so badly I couldn't really go back to sleep anyway and after wetting through a packet of pads and 2 towels just sat on the loo and stood over the shower! Not sure if you can buy blue plastic sheets to put on the seat or under sheet like they use for oldies in nursing homes etc.

My mum always said she carried a bottle of orange juice around with her to drop of the floor and smash if her waters went in public
