    Going back?

    Hi

I had a really good first labour, it was only 6 hours in total and i can honestly say it was really good, only had gas. Now that i am half way through my next pregnancy i am starting to worry that since i had such a good first time, that this baby might be the opposite!! How did you go with your second labour? Was it better or worse??

Apparently in about 7 months I will be a qualified midwife - yikes!

Sheba - take heart hun, most first labours are the hradest and generally subsequent ones get easier.

I am sure this time will be even better for you, mine certainly were!

My second labour was my favourite (so far LOL) it went perfectly. I did have the same thoughts, as the second time round you *know* what to exepct to a degree and what it is going to feel like, but you are so much more confident in your ability to birth a baby because of that first experience kwim? And if the second birth is different - which it is likely to be, no two births are exactly the same - then you are better prepared to cope with that because you know what works for you and what options you have.

Good luck - you will be great.

Yeah my first labour was great, bout 7 hours and no pain relief. For me I think it was because I didn't know what to expect, then second time round I was freaking out lol my 2nd labour was 3 hours in total, pain was terrible and fast, had gas and pethidine ( kicked in once I gave birth lol) but this was because it was induced. It will be fine for you, you will manage, just try not to do what I did and think about it so much lol As Sherie said "no two births are exactly the same" Good luck with it all!

Sheba, my ob always said the best indication of how your labour will go is your previous labours. If your first one was good then you are far more likely to have another easy one. This was true for me. Your concerns are very normal, I was the same, but you will be just fine.

Mine have gotten better each time. Although with the one just gone I was more aware of the contractions then previous, but I think that was a case of mind over matter. I was definitely more aware the third time when I went into transition & definitely when it was time to push.

My first labor was 7 hours, second labor 5 hours, third labour 2 hours.

Remain positive and you will be fine!
