    Question about privates!! Yes mine!!

Ok so I'm past my due dates now and tonight I have an intense pressure down there and it feels like a really swollen hoohaa!! Could this be something I should be watching... the OB said the babys head is pressing on my cervix so do you think he might have dropped a bit more!!

Sounds great! Like bub is engaged and ready to go. All the best with the birth!

I think so, from what I remember the pressure is something else and everything feels like it's going to burst! If you're in pain then that's not good, but I think the feeling of intense pressure would be what is making things feel swollen? Given that because of the hormone relaxin relaxing your muscles, your bits and pieces won't be particularly resistant to pressure...which I imagine is a great thing for labour, you don't want to be resisting bub when he makes his way out!

Anyway, if you're in pain, then get it checked out, but the pressure sounds normal. Did you have it with any of your other kids do you remember?

I can't really remember to be honest with you!! Its not really a pain, just feels like I'm really swollen and lots of pressure down below! The things you discuss when your up the duff!!

Should I be sitting down to relieve pressure or walking around to help him descend!!?

    Thanks

    Hi Leeloo
The swelling is normal. It is caused by an increase in blood supply to the area. You don't need to do anything to relieve the pressure just do what feels most comfortable for you. Ice on the area may help with the discomfort. One little trick you could try is to put some water in a disposable nappy then put it in the freezer. When it is cold or even frozen wear it like a pad. The advantage with this is that when the water melts it is still held in the nappy. You can also reuse the nappy over and over again. Just pop it in a zip lock bag before freezing.
