I started taking the Blackmores Rasberry Leaf tablets at about 35 weeks and have now been through two bottles!!! I seriously thought I'd have my little one in my arms by now but unfortunately not. Anyway, I took my last tablets this morning and don't know whether is worth going and buying another bottle!!!???
What do you think - I'm nearly 41 weeks and am being induced on Thursday, if nothing happens before then (only three days away).
Also lost my mucous plug this avo - so hoping something might happen sooner. So yeah, just wanted to get your thoughts on whether I should race out and get some more or have I taken enough to help with labour??
First of all, I'm not an expert.
But I found some info somewhere where it actually suggested drinking RLT not just in the weeks leading up to birth but more importantly to make a strong brew for when you're in labour. I can't find my source, but here is what was recommended (fortunately I wrote it down): take 1 ounce (28g) of Raspberry Leaf Tea (loose leaf from the Health food store) and cover with 1 pint (570ml) of hot water, let steep for 30 minutes and drink as hot as possible either on the way to hospital or when you get there. It came with the warning not to drink it too early as it might get things moving pretty quickly. Apparently it came from a Scottish herbal remedy book.
I have no idea how credible this info is, but I think I might give it a go.
So if you don't want to buy another bottle of tablets, you might want to give this brew a try instead. But again, no responsibility taken here, I have only read it and not tried it myself.
My Doctor told me that RLT isn't used for bringing on labour.. it's for strengthening and toning the uterus. Otherwise they wouldn't recommend taking it from the 2nd or even 1st Tri's. Apparently EPO i have heard is used to induce labour?
Fletch - yeah the midwife did tell me it was great for promoting a plentiful milk supply... but i thought she said not to continue taking it after baby was born! I could be very confused.. which is more than likey
hmm... i will have to recap and try and remember what she was talking about? It was something that wasn't good for the baby to be getting through breast milk.. i honestly can't remember, i thought it was RLT!
