    Really quick induced labour

    Hi guys
    I'm just wondering...
I had a 2 hour labour with my DS and I was induced.
If I was to go in to labour naturally the next time around does it automatically mean that I will have a quick second labour as well, or was my labour really quick due to me being induced and not have any bearing whatsoever on any subsequent labours?
I was already a little dialated when I was induced (gels only, my waters broke on their own after having the gel)
I guess I'm just a little worried about not making it to the hospital the second time around, if I choose to go down that path
    Thanks for your help

Induced labours are usually shorter. My induced labour was 5 hours and then my spontanious one was 37 hours, so definatly does not mean you'll have a shorter one next time.

    Hi,

My induced labour with #1 was 3hrs 20 mins.

My spontaneous labour with #2 was 8hrs.

Spontaneous labour with #3 was 6 hrs established but 47hrs from first contraction.

    Induction with #4 was 1hr 4 mins.

    Induction with #5 was 3hrs 20 mins.

    Induction with #6 was 1hr 14mins.

So you cant really say what a spontaneous labour would be. I know that if i went in with contractions, whether in labour or not, they would not let me go home until i stopped contracting because i have a history of short labours (but my spontaneous labours were much longer).

They told me after i had #6 that if i had any more, i would have to go to the hospital on the first contraction.

I would try to get to the hospital as soon as you can.

with ds i was 42.3 weeks (hossy let me go over) . I was booked in for induction on the tuesday morning 9am. I ended up having pains late in the arvo (though it was nothing but with in an hor and a half they were 10 times worse... from 1st pain to time they broke my water was 4 hours. 1/2 hour of puching and DS was out.

My Second. I was also post date... booked in for induction 10 days over. No dilation, bubs still high up.. they said i'd need probably 2-3 lots of gel. well within 10 mins of the 1st gel i was in pain. 2 hour 16 mins after the gel went in my baby girl was out.

They said next time i have to get to the hossy ASAP. as i only had 1 push and she was out. This was the most painful 2 hours 16 mins but i have no recollection of pushing it was so fast.

I think it just really depends. If your worried next time i would just ring the hosy before hand and see what they say. or go in and get checked... they tell you if your better to stay or go back home

I have had 2 induced labours but the 2nd time round they hardly used any pitocin as I was already 4cm.

My first labour was 3hr (from first cx to birth) and my second was 90min (first cx to birth).

Ive been told inductions or not, my body just seems to dialate rapidly and if I choose to go into spontaneous labour this time round I need to run like the wind to the birth centre otherwise we'll be in the paper as a roadside birth All my OB files are labelled PRECIPITATE in big letters hehe

I say take it as it comes, the hospital will have advice for you but you cant predict these things. Because your labour was short though I think theyll go with better safe than sorry.

I don't think there are any "automatics" when it comes to labour and delivery

Talk to your health care provider about how they would like to handle things, because they don't want you delivering on the side of the road, either. I have relatively quick labours but the problem for me was that I can go from really comfortably labouring for a couple of hours to complete and pushing in a few minutes, with very little transition. So with #4 (the only baby not induced) we had an agreement that as soon as contractions were five minutes apart, I'd go to the hospital, regardless of how comfortable I was. We did that, and the baby was born two hours later after a very intense and quick labour.

It may even be that you opt for an induction when it looks like things are getting ready, so that you are where you need to be when it all happens. That's what we chose for dd#3, when we lived a long way from the hospital, and I was already about three cm and having the odd bout of contractions.
