Recommendation for Active Birth Classes in Brisbane

    Hi,

I'm looking into active birthing classes in Brisbane and want to know if anyone has done any and has any recommendations (positive or negative)... My partner and I are attending the antenatal classes at the hospital, but would also like to get some further education about Active Birthing in particular, and how to best prepare. We've read Janet Balaskas but would like a more hands-on approach.

I've found two classes that seem to have some focus on this
    - one run by the Childbirth Education Association CEA: Education service - Antenatal Active Birth Course
    - other at yogababy yogababy: active birth workshop

Has anyone completed either of these or have recommendations for others?

    thanks!

Yogababy is wonderful - I have had quite a few clients who have done their course and all of them have raved about it.

I also sat in on one of the workshops (with Suzanne) when I was doing my doula training and I learnt alot as well

I think it's great that you're looking to supplement the hospital antenatal classes. Not all women are looking to have a drug free birth - some women are having planned caesars, others plan to have pain relief as soon as they arrive in hospital - so the hospital classes have to cater to their needs as well. As a result they usually only cover the basics. Private classes are worth every cent - they are specifically designed around active/natural birth and you're there with others who share your goals as well

    Have fun!
