What did you wear while in labour??

I was talking to a friend yesterday and she asked me what I was going to wear when I went into labour.
Whatever I happened to have on at the time or get changed into I would think.

I have always just laboured in my own clothes which usually was a long tee shirt and bare bum. I did try water for my first baby so was in the bath in my bra but soon hopped out and put my tee shirt back on.

Do you have a "labour outfit"?

Yep I wore my own clothes for a while but then submitted to the gown as it was so loose and nice fitting and didn't get in the way of "inspecctions" lol

I bought one of those cheap ugly old lady cotton stretchy nighties for DD's birth and then DH forgot to wash it so I ended up either naked when in shower and in hospital gown which was felt a bit strangulatory when hoiked it up to put bub on chest. (Now I wear the hideously ugly nightie most nights since didn't end up getting covered in gunk serves DH right - I might wear it this time tho) PS - I hated not wearing a bra, feel like my boobs are in the way. But they wanted the naked chest to put bub on so ?

I had a hospital gown - easy for access and when I was hooked up to machines etc.

I was naked - except for my c/section which of course I was in a glam gown with a clown hat!
I can't stand clothes when I am labouring - I strip off as soon as it gets serious!

Fistly just notice you're having a girl! Congrats!!!

    Secondly and more on topic
With Annabelle I ended up giving birth to her in my (at the time) fave yellow bra haha. In my bellybelly albums her 1st pic you can see the bra
With Lucy the birth was so quick I only had time to get my pants off and still had my long sleeve black top on. So when she was born I had to quickly whip it off so they could put her on my chest

I have never and prob will never put much thought into what Ill wear while giving birth. It happen all of a suddern I really wouldn't have time to get changed haha

I was in a stretchy long skirt and a singlet top. I wasnt at the hossy too long when my waters broke so after i got out of the shower i just put on a hossy gown and i had on some of those glamorous disposable knickers as i was still leaking all over

I laboured in winter both times so I wore trackies and a t-shirt until I got in the shower than I was naked for the rest and I'm such a prude so DH found this really funny.

i bought a large oversize t shirt nightie to wear and had nothing underneath, it was very comfy and easy for docs and midwives to do their thing

At home, I just had on some loose, comfy jogging pants and a baggy tee of DH's, but when we got to the hosp, the mw had the bath run, so I stripped off for that and as I hopped from the bath to the bed to the shower and back to the bath a few times, I didn't bother putting anything on, so spent the majority of my labour naked. Not that I gave that much thought at the time - I'm normally so self-conscious so to be comfortable naked, I must have been in the zone! It did help that being in a birth centre, it was only DH, the mw and a student mw (who wasn't involved, just observing so quietly that I forgot she was there!).

I'm very spoilt, as my MIL has bought me a Womama Birthing Wrap - organic bamboo/cotton. It's a LBD for birthing in - no hospie gowns for me!!

It's black so I figure that any gunk-related staining will be invisible after a good napisan soak!?! I've worn it a couple of times at home already and think it will be great for the 9th month around the house and for early breastfeeding weeks.

First baby I laboured and birthed in 2 gowns.

One I wore the right way around, the second the wrong way around so there were no gapping peaking gaps (spot the prude)

When I got my epidural, the one that was blocking the back went - though I didn't care at that point.

This time around we are planning a water birth - and I have a tankini which I plan on wearing just the top while in the bath and a towel around the bottom part if I want to walk around the suite.......still a prude

First time I wore a t shirt and trackies No underwear at all! I'd just gotten out of the bath at home, contractions every 3 minutes and it took me 30 mins to get the stupid pants on, so I couldn't have cared less. When I got to hospy, the pants came off and stayed off, and then about 40 mins after arriving, I went starkers.
Second time, I was in a full outfit as I was convinced my contractions were Braxtons ( I was dellusional).
I wore most of it until about 4 hours before I gave birth, where I jumped in the shower, and then just didn't put anything back on.
I was never once offered a hospital gown... I feel Jipped! haha

Just me & my birthday suit! hehe...

I got so hot though I was in the "zone" so don't remember when I stripped...but I do remember having to go from a temporary waiting area to the birthing room..I could feel my dh trying hard to keep me covered with the bedsheet as I made my way (with my eyes closed) down the hallway..I just kept trying to push him off saying "I don't care anymore"..lol...
