I think the 'average' is 35 cm???????? So 37cm is not abnormal, but not small either
My DS was 34cm when he was born at 35 weeks! And he weighed 5lbs1oz. So a good sized head for his gestation LOL. Poor child was waaaaay out of proportion for along time, my DH says he still is
ETA and what I find hilarious is that my step-sisters first baby was almost 10lbs, but his head was 33cm. People love to say how easy I must have had it getting my DS out because he was so tiny/light..........um, no. It just goes to show, it's the head size that can make a difference, not the weight!
According to the blue book charts, the 50th centile is 35cm for boys and 34.5 for girls, most of the ones I hear about on here and IRL are between 33 and 36cm.
I asked my SIL this questions the other day - not out of a book answer - she is a midwife and has been for 10 years. She reckons the average is 50cms long and 35cms head in her experience.
I thought 35 was normal... I thought that 8lb was normal so it is almost. But I thought 55cm was normal. Both my girls were 56cm long, 4kg and 36 head cm.
lol I know Kim, thats why they said that Jovie would be 10lb 11oz, because of her bone length They are both tall now... 97% for Jovie atm, no idea with Matilda...
