When you walked out of the hospital for the first time ...

Did you walk? Have a wheel chair? Did YOU carry bub? Your partner? Someone else? Or did you put them in the capsule/pram? Did you walk to the car or get your partner/someone else to bring the car to the front door of the hospital?

I'm interested, I was going back over my birth announcement and just thinking about when we left with Jazz...

I walked out carrying Jazz to the car, which was parked in the car park.

Shel's mum was HORRIFED that they not only let me walk to the car (they offered the wheelchair to the door, but I was ok to walk), but let me carry Jazz, 3 days after the c/s. And I think my mum was pretty surprised that I walked out too.
Anyway, then I was also thinking about the fact that they offered me the wheelchair, wondering how many people take that option.
And then I read somewhere that someone took the pram in and wheeled bub out in the pram (I don't even think the pram was in the car, I doubt I would have thought of it!)?

Anyway, just wondering what everyone else does? lol, nice random question haha.

I must say though, I can't think of a better feeling that would trump walking out of hossy with your brand you bub in your arms... just ah, as long as you don't slip

dp and MIL refused to let me walk cause I was still in heaps of pain from the C/S so dp wheeled me out and MIL pushed ava in the little crib thingy

#1 i walked out carrying him in his capsule, mum took me home as DH was at work. i can not remember if i was offered a wheel chair or not...

#2 well i was home so no car needed

Ds1, I walked out with Noah in the pram, Phil had parked it a pick up zone so not far to walk.

DS2, I walked, I think I carried Spence, or maybe it was dh?

Both times I have also walked from the Birth room to my room in the ward

LOL funny question! I guess in our parent's day it was normal to be wheeled out?

I walked out and carried each of our babies. DH brought the car to the front entrance of the hospital (the car park was miles away).

I walked to the car in the carpark & carried DD & the nappy bag. DF had to make 2 trips carrying everything else

It was the nicest and strangest feeling holding my DS, and having everyone looking and smiling as we walked by

I let DP carry DD out in his arms from the hossy. He already did about 4 trips to teh car with everything else so I figured I'd let him carry the most important thing.

I carried a bunch of flowers. It was lovely. We left on day 3 after a VB.

I walked out, although I think they offered me a wheelchair from memory. It was lovely having everyone smile at us. DH brought the car around and I'll never forget, while I was waiting an old man came up and looked at DS and said something lovely about new babies, and then asked his name and he said "I hope you didn't call him Noah. MY granddaughter called her son that and it's a stupid name". I was mortified because if I'd had my way, DS would of been Noah. Would of made for a slightly devastating moment

i walked out with bubs in my arms both times, such a great feeling.
with DD1 they checked both our ID tags on the way out to check i was taking home the right baby, lmao.
Second time i had a check up with the OB b4 i left and she said she'd be back to let me know i could go home. waited for like 2 hours and then a midwife came in and said what are u still doing here, go home!

DP pushed me out to the car in a wheel chair, I was carrying DS. That was 3 days after a CS. I was an emotional wreck and doubt I could have made it to the car walking. It probably would have taken me an hour if I had tried LOL.

It was the strangest feeling, hard to describe. DP had been running around back and forth putting our stuff in the car. The cleaners were whizzing around me getting the room ready for the next person. I was bawling my eyes out cos the blues had hit and I was still coming to terms with everything. I looked a treat!

Venturing out into the big wide world again after being cooped up was so nice though. I hadn't seen sunshine or fresh air the whole time.

Walked out both times

With DD1 she was in a stroller because the car was parked miles away and there was sooooo much stuff to carry, with DD2 I carried her out - didn't get given so much stuff the second time around LOL

Was a wonderful feeling leaving hospy both times.

We walked to the car, which was parked quite close to the side hospital entrance. I carried DS. This was I think 4 (or 5) days after a c/s. I didn't even think of doing things any differently.

With DD1 we had the pram, and with DD2 I carried her. DD1 was so little, and I was scared to carry her for a long distance LOL and DH had his hands full with all the flowers. With DD2, I was a pro by that stage, and we left before anyone had a chance to give flowers/presents.

I walked from the labour ward to my room all 3 times.
Walked carrying them all to the car in the car park. Wasn't offered a wheel chair to leave. I didn't have c/s though.

I walked and carried CJ to the car in the carpark, wasn't offered a wheelchair... This was 4 days post CS.

I have carried all my bubbas to the car myself, and have never been offered a wheelchair.... not that I would of used it!! Dh has carried the bag, flowers etc...

I have left as late as 2 days later, and as early as the next morning after an afternoon baby.
