Just wondering if anyone had been through this already
I will be getting induced on wed 40w+10 and as fate would have it I have a shocking head cold, sore throat, green runny nose etc. I was perfectly healthy around my due date which is so typical and adding to my need to get this child out now.
But the hospital is always freezing and gas and air didnt work for me last time and this time I definetly wont be able to breathe so was looking for some positive experiences...pretty please
Rest as much as possible in the lead up to Wed. Keep up your fluids, eat really healthy food and perhaps get DH to give you some head massages to help with congestion and headaches.
TBH I reckon once those ctx kick in you won't even notice the cold.
maybe take some saline spray to clear your nose and sinus between contractions.
i'd talk to your doc/middie about medication that can be administered to you while labouring to help you breath. I can't remember is Vicks allowed? might be able to kill 2 birds with one stone but doing the steaming bowl of vicks/deep breathing while contracting lol. It'd certainly give you something else to focus on!
and personally, if the gas didn't work, i'd be asking for an epi or such right away to give yourself a break. remember you don't get much time to rest and sleep afterwards lol.
i hope that maybe it isn't a cold but the start of labour! good luck lvoe.
I had a shocking flu and chest infection when I went into labour with DD2. It really wasn't fun. But TBH, once labour started, I didn't really get a chance to notice. Yes, the labour rooms are freezing, but when you're in full blown labour that's the last thing on your mind. I did though labour for the entire time in the shower with the door closed and the water on as hot as it could be.
Good luck.
