Hello All
Here is my Birth Story of Jaylan David.
After 3 m/c and one daughter when we found out we were pregnant we were over the moon.I had morning sickness until around 22 weeks the same as i had had with my daughter. At our 25 week u/s the sonographer slipped and told us we were having a boy after i had told them that we didn't want to know as we wanted a surprise. At first i was upset at having a boy and didn't know what to do (but i did get over it towards the end of pregnancy), that is another story in itself. At around 30 wks i was diagnoised with GD and by 32 wks i was insulin dependent, by the end of my pregnancy i was having 42 units in the morning and 46/48 units in the evening.

I went to see the Ob, Diabetic Educator and Midwives. I was told that they would be doing an induction this week as bub was big according to u/s. So the Ob booked me in for an induction on the Thursday at 8am. While i was there she did a strectch and sweep to see if they could get things going themselves. With this i was in tears as it hurt so much.

Arrived at the hospital at 8am for my induction and they were so busy that we had to sit and wait for a room. Finally got put into a room and the first lot of gel was inserted. Nothing much happened, i did lots of walking around the hospital, visited my sister (who works at the hospital) a few times and we just chatted. By around 3pm i began having serious pains and thought i was in labour. I was in tears with each contraction and they were coming 1 minute apart lasting for at least 30 seconds. Had an internal done and they said i was 1 cm dialated (the same as i had been on the Tuesday). eventually everyone convinced me to have some pain relief and i was given morphine. I really didn't want any as i hadn't with my last bub so i was determined to do the smae thing but not so. Withthe shot of morphine i was in and out of sleep for the rest of the evening. Apparently the pains were prostein pain and was not labour as i had thought, didn't have this with the last one either. Mum came up to visit as she was concerned with what was happening as my last bub arrived in 2 hr and 20 minutes after a 2 lots of gel so we were all expecting the same thing to happen. I was put on a insulin infusion which was good as they were talking of sending me home if nothing had happened by the next day, so at least with the fusion they couldn't send me home.

Was given another lot of gel around 7ish and again nothing happened. I was getting frustrated as i knew how quick my daughter had come. They then gave me another lot of gel around 2ish. by 3pm again i was having the prostein pain. They did another internal again i was only 1 cm dilated. I stated that i couldn't do this anymore and i wanted a c section now. They gave me another lot of morphine but this time it didn't work. They told me that they would check me around 8pm and if my waters hadn't broken they would leave me until the next morning where they will break my waters and go from there. At 6pm things were getting painful and i demanded that someone come and check what is happening as i was in too much pain. They did another internal. At 6:30pm they discovered i was 5cm i had another couple of contractions and told them i had bowel pressure they checked again i was 8cm, told them i needed to puch and they told me no i couldn't, they put a monitor on bub's head via internal and found that i was nearly 10cm. Said i needed to push and they said go for it. Gave about 3 pushes with contractions (10 minutes) and bub arrived, at one stage i felt that he was stuck and with the help of two lovely midwives we got him out on the last push. He wasn't crying when he was born and i kept asking why isn't he crying and they kept saying everything was ok. after about 2 minutes i heard the quietest whimper and felt relieved. They palced him on my chest and we had our first cuddle. They kept an eye on him as his breathing was a little funny as well as with the GD. They said that his breathing was due to shcok with such a quick labour of 1 hr and 10 mins start to finish, according to my Dh he was completely blue body and all when he arrived which is a very scary feeling. My daughter arrived with my parents within 30 minutes of Jaylan's arrival. Jaylan's afgar scores were 2 and 9. We stayed in the delievery suite for about 3 and 1/2 hours where Jaylan had his first feed and got to spend time with daddy, his big sister and myself. I found this birth alot more traumatic than i did with my first and i have always wanted to have 3 bubs and up until recently didn't want to have anymore but now i think i would really like another one but just scared how quick the next one will be as well as the health of bub.
I am so proud to have a son and he is the most beautiful boy in the world!!!!!!!!!!
