the birth of my 1st 28/5/08 (long)

i thought id share the birth storys of my babies so heres Jhett Darcys 28th May 2008

    i was 40+5 days
so an induction was organised still not sure why so soon after my actual due date but that was my OBs choice

now everyone i know that had been induced had thier babies within a couple of hrs so i thought YAY same for me
i arrived at the hosp at 7:30 after a couple of hrs sleep as i was toooo excited
nurses did an internal and explained that there are 2 metholds of induction Gel which is used to ripen and soften cervix or breaking of waters as my cervix had ripened they broke my waters at 9:30am which to be honest was a very very gross feeling lol and again i was excited as i figured its going to be even faster now
i was told to walk around to help get labour started and i was having mild painless contractions
at 11:30am another internal was done and my labour had barely started
so the Syntocinon drip was started and i was hooked up to the monitors
and was not allowed to move because the monitors had to stay on
now this upset me as my birth plan was to walk through the pain and i was restricted to the bed now and one of the monitors hurt like crazy(ended up bruising my stomach)
but as this was my first i didnt question the midwifes
at 3:30 shift changed and i got 2 new midwifes (1 was a student)
i by now the pain was unbareable and stopped talking to everyone sending myself into my own little world trying to escape from the pain
4:30pm i HAD had ENOUGH i wanted drugs! while the snr midwife tried her hardest to talk me out of having drugs i wanted drugs
they did another internal i was only 3cm along and rang my OB and gave me pethidine
which even to this day WAS THE BEST FEELING EVER i was suddenly bouncing upbeat and happy again only problem was the poor student midwife had to assist me to the toilet because of the monitors and drip and considering i only went in for a wee it took me over half an hr as i got distracted and she was too nice to say anything the convo we had was something along the lines of sneaking my cat in LOL
i then sat on my bed happily bouncing telling the midwifes i wasnt having contractons anymore( i was just couldnt feel them)

by 7:30pm pethidine had worn off so my Ob came in and did an internal which was awful but i was still only 3cm along i screamed for more pethidine but as the midwife explained i could only have 2 shots and if i took this one now i couldnt have anymore later so she convinced me to try the gas
worst thing every i felt my head touch the roof it made me sick and the pain was unbearable as i couldnt breathe through the pain
my Ob agreed to an epidural and while i was in pain i put up with it until the epidural was done
i was exhausted but still in pain but the midwife refused to turn it up
9pm shift change again and the first thing my midwife asked was are you in pain?
i said yes and she turned it up i could rest but my OB came back in at 9:30pm and said it was TIME
as i was too numb and tired Jhett was delivered by vacuumed extraction
i was ment to be helping push but i faked that lol
only issue was my OB didnt ak if DH wanted a view and performed epsiomity without warning cauing DH to almost pass out from shock
but he came up and laid at my head (which was in my birth plan)
at 10pm our BEAUTIFUL baby boy was placed on my chest and DH cut his cord
    he weight 8.11lbs(3940gms) 50cm long
i remember bursting into tears as he was finally here and so perfect looking

    thanks for letting me share
ill be posting my daughters birth story soon

might be some parts missing as it was almost 3 years ago but thats all i can remember LOL
