    Emily's birth story - 15/05/08

I had been getting pre-labour pains for about 3 weeks before her arrival. This included many false alarms, constant period pain, unable to eat, sleep or walk. At my 36 week check-up, she was 4/5 engaged. The dr said she wouldn't be too far away...Each week I went back to the dr, and she'd be even further engaged At my 39 week check up she was 1/5 engaged, and he said that surely she'd be arriving very soon.
At 39 weeks/6 days (yes, 1 day early!) labour finally started!
10pm - contractions every 5 minutes. They were intense, but I felt good as I had time in between them to get my mind back on track.
11pm - contractions now 3 minutes apart. Decided to head up to the hospital to get checked out. Arrived at the hospital, midwife did an internal and said I was 3cm dilated, and my cervix was almost as soft as it can get.
1am - contractions now on top of each other, coming roughly every 2 minutes lasting 1 minute.
3am - had the pushing urge. Midwife did an internal, 5cm dilated, and my cervix was as soft and ripe as it was going to get. She broke my waters.
3:57am - Emily arrived It only took 3 good pushes for her to be born. No tears and no drugs.
    She weighed 3.635kg (or 8lb), 51cm in length & HC 34.5cm.

It was certainly a good birthday present for me, as I celebrated my birthday the next day. I only stayed in hospital for the one night, and felt great instantly.

Well done Jodi, what a great birth! I'm sure it was a pain, but it sounds as though all that pre-labour did the trick!

Good on you hun, hope you're enjoying your babymoon
