Thought I'd share my other 2 labours.

    DD1 - Jazmyne Louise

    10/4/2002
40 week OB appointment. Due date - 12/4/2002
My lovely Ob at the time decided with no proof (no internal) that nothing was happening & that he'd like to book me in for an induction.
Me being way too young & naive just though 'yay, I get my baby soon!'
I went out with my referral letter for the hospital telling mum I was going to be induced the following Monday.

'Like HELL!' Not quite the reply I was expecting.
'He is taking advantage of the fact that you are young. Don't believe him you can go up to 2 weeks past your due date with out complications.'
All I was thinking was 'shut up mum. I just want my baby out!'

So I get home with mum stressing for me to ring my gp & ask his oppinion.
He also tells me he wouldn't normally even talk about induction til 10 days past EDD unless there are medical reasons.
So he gave my Ob a ring for me. Rang me back 10 minutes later to say that as there is no medical reason to induce I can leave it.

The next Wednesday I go for my Ob appointment. Now 5 days over due. Nothing was said.
I mean nothing. Checked my BP, weight & FH & said good bye.

That Friday while DH was at work (7days over) I went shopping with the IL's. Wandered around in Coffs for a few hours.
Then went down to the tavern for dinner with ILs & some friends. Everyone came back to our place & as our friends were leaving My mate rubbed my belly just a little & said 'come on baby, come out'.

DH & I went to bed at around 11.30pm.
12.30am I woke up...something odd was going on...I went to the loo & came back & turned on the light. There was a wet patch on my bed.
I woke up DH who rolled over, saw it & said 'you wet the bed ya dirty b*tch!' (not in a degrading way, but he thought thats what happened!
I said to him 'no, I think my waters broke!'
Well he got up real quick then!

I rang the hossy as I had no idea what to do. They told me to stay home if I like or if I wanted I could go up.
I went up coz it was my first baby & I was terrified. & an hour away from the hospital.

So DH rang the ILs (he had no license) & they came over at about 2am & drove us up there. Had my first contraction at about 2.30.

Things went real slowly. Tried to get back to sleep at hossy, but I was too excited. (DH was snoring in 10 minutes flat!)

6am my contractions were about 5 minutes apart.

Had my first internal at about 10.30am. 4cm. By this time I was starting to make a bit of noise.

MIL & my mum came in just after & I got on the gas & went in the bath for a bit.

After a while my contractions slowed down & I had to get out of the bath. Wasn't real happy!

About 4 in the afternoon I had a shot of pethidine after another internal. I was fighting the contractions & tensing my body with each one, so nothing much was really happening.

The Ob decided this time that my cervix was not in the right place as it was up behind DD's head & that could've been the reason things were going so slowly.
So he put his hand in & pulled it down under her head....OW!!!

I got back in the bath for a bit, but passed out from hyperventilating on the gas so got out again.

At about 5 - 5.30ish I had another shot of pethidine. By now I was seeing sparkly purple flowers & winging at mum that I should've listened to her & that I'm too young! I couldn't do it anymore.

Had another internal at around this time & was only 7cm.
This is when I think they made the decision that she either had to come out or I was going for a c/s. & its only coz of MIL they agreed to let me try to push her out.
She heard them talking about a c/s & told them to let me go for a bit longer.

So at about 6ish I started pushing.
Everytime I pushed the bed was moving! Between contractions I was abusing DH thinking he was pressing buttons!

At 6.56 that night I finally pushed DD1 into the world. No help & no stitches.
18.5 hours of labour all up to only get 7cm in the end.
    7lb 5oz & 50cm long & 8 days past EDD on April 20, 2002.

After all that it was my shoulder pressing the buttons!!!

    DD2 Brianna Rose

    Edd May 29 - MIL's 40th b'day.
    Came & went.

Only saw my GP this time. Was kinda turned off Obs.
Had S&S done on the Monday. 1 day past EDD.
    Not much happening.....

    June 4.
Woke up at 2.15 am with a contraction! YAY!
15 minutes later had another one.
Got up & got my bag organised. Contractions stayed regular & 15 minnutes apart til 5.15am. Then they just stopped. Bugger!

8.15, had another contraction. 8.30 had another one, so I rang my mum who already had DD for the night & told her she'd better keep her for another night as things were happening. but were going slow.
We agreed to meet later that arvo at about 4pm if I was still around as we had swapped kids. Mum had DD1 & I had my sister for the night.
While waiting I convinced DH to come for a long walk with me coz I wanted things to start again.

So off we went. After walking about 3 kms I had one contraction. About 30 minutes later I had another.

Got back home about 30 minutes later & drove over to meet mum with my sister. (DH still has no lisence mind you, so I'm driving!)

In the 10 minutes over to where mum was I had 2 contractions. 'Bugger you' DH said to me. 'I'm driving home!'

    So off we go home.

Contractions came & went all over the place & not real noticeable.

10.30pm they were regular & 30 minutes apart. We were in bed, but after a while I went out to the lounge so DH could get some sleep.

By 1.30am they were so strong I couldn't handle it any more. But they were still 30 minutes apart, so I was worried if they got closer my drug free birth would be out the window! I could barely handle it now!
I went in to wake DH. I wanted to go to the hospital. As soon as I got my bag & started getting ready they hit me 5 minutes apart!

I had a 40 minute drive ahead of me with 5 minute apart contractions!

Off we went. I felt every bump!

When we got to the hossy I went to the examination room to find that I was already 6 - 7 cm dialated. YAY!!!

Off to labour ward & under the shower on an exercise ball rocking sideways to try to turn DD (sitting with a shoulder in my back! OW!)

After a while I got game & we put the ball next to the bed so I could rock there.

I took a whole different approach this time. I relaxed my body through contractions instead of tensing it & just made sorta humming noises. Very load ones though!

After a while the MW asked me to try going to the toilet for a wee. I stood up, took a step & had another contraction.

'Oh I think you'd better get up on the bed. I think we are going to have a baby soon!' So they got me a bed pan instead - lovely!

I did my wee & they said I should just about be ready to push...so I start pushing (NO pain relief so far!!!!!!!!!)

After about 30 minutes the MW decides on another internal which tells her I'm only 9cm & I'll have to hold off pushing for a bit & handed me the gas.
One suck on it & I started to feel tingly around my mouth, so I dropped it.

When I was ok to push again They put the end of the bed up & I got up on my knees over it.
    Away I went pushing again.

There was a bit of swearing this time (I was oddly polite with DD1).

Had ARM about 15 minutes before she was born.

At 7.08am on June 5, 2005 Brianna was born with the cord around her neck once & it slipped over her body as she was born.

They just guided her onto the bed safely & told me to sit down over her & pick her up. I had to be told again coz I wasn't expecting her to look so different to DD1!!

    8lb 9oz & also 50cm.
Stitches were questioned this time around, but it was decided I would be ok.

My birthing experience this time was surprisingly calm til transition. When I started yelling & swearing!!

Of my births it is the one I remember with the most happiness.
With DD1 I had no idea & was scared of the pain, with DS it all happened so fast I didn't get the chance to try & relax.

So if you read all the way through both of these, sorry it took so long, but thankyou.
I love sharing my birth experiences with everyone as I feel that they are all very positive.
