The labour story of my beautiful Son

    Wow where to begin......

It all started on the Tuesday morning 14.9.10

My waters broke on Tuesday morning at 5am. I was laying in bed and all of a sudden a gush of water came out. I freaked out and didnt know what to do lol. I started getting contactions straight away though but were only 10 mins apart at this stage. i rang the hospital and they wanted me to go up and get checked out and make sure he wasnt in distress or anything. Went up there and got all hooked up to the machine and Blake was happy as larry inside still, I was only 2cm dialated by this stage.
went on for hours. by the afternoon, I was still not dialating enough so the midwife gave me the option to either get induced or go home and wait it out. As I wanted my water birth, I thought I would go home and wait till the contractions were down to 3 mins apart. As soon as i got home, they started coming on very strong and were 5 mins apart. I stayed at home as long as possible but was in terrible pain. The hospital gave me panadeine forte and valium to take while I was at home, which did not help at all. By 7pm and conctractions were 5 mins apart. I went back into hospital and stayed until I was ready to give birth. I was still not dialating. I got to about 4cm by this stage. DP and I tried to sleep but my contractions dropped down to 2 mins apart and I was sure that I must be dialating enough, but surly not, still only at 5cm. The pain was getting so bad. I tried using the shower which did help but after a while in the shower, I started vomiting so I needed to lay back down. This went on all night. By 4am I had only dialated to 6cm and was getting no where, I asked if I could get in the bath but another lady was using it and since the delivery suite only had one bath, I missed out on my water birth. at 5am i gave up on the bath idea as i couldnt handle the contractions anymore. Being in labour now for 24 hours I asked for epidural and to get induced.

Had the epidural at 6am and was on cloud 9 by this stage. They gave me the Syntocinon drip to get induced to make me start dialating. DP and I could finally rest. Couldnt sleep though as they had to come check my blood pressure every 15mins and also turn up the inducing machine every half an hour. Poor DP still had not slept either so we were both so very tired.

At 11:30am they checked to see how dialated I was and finally I was ready to push. Everything got set up and I was finally getting excited to meet my little man. At 12 I was ready to start pushing. I let the epidural were off though so I could feel the pushing and Blake coming out. The contractions and back pain started coming back as well.
1:20pm My little man was born weighing 3.18kgs and 46cms. DP cut the the cord. It was the most perfect and beautiful experience. Even DP was amazing throughout the whole thing. I couldnt of done this with out him. I wouldnt of survived. My little man is perfect and I couldnt ask for a better looking son. After 35 hours of labour, I finally got to see my wonderful boy that I have been hanging to see for over 9 months.

Being a mother and experiencing birth is something I do over and over again. It was truely worth every painful contraction and worth 35 hours of labour.
