    Liam Joshua has arrived 21/5/08

    Well here is Liams storey:

Initially I was preparing for a VBAC as 1st son was emergency c section due to obstructed labour. I was told the risks etc, and was given 60-70% chance of success. DH and I decided we would take the chance and see how it went, knowing that we may end up with c section anyway.
At 40 week app we booked in to have waters broken at 40+4 days to see if labour would start. The day before I was getting contractions 10 mins apart and so rang the hospital and went into day stay for monitoring. I was told it wasnt true labour and was seen by doctor, this is when VBAC went out the window.
Doc advised that chance of VBAC was 10-30% due to prev reasons for failed birth and that she wouldnt break my waters until atleast 41 weeks.
DH and I decided, after much upset on my part that we would book in for c section as the odds were not in our favour and were scheduled for friday, 2 days time.
The next morning however contractions were coming every 6 mins and were becoming more intense. I rang hospital and was told to come in to see if true labour and if so would be given emergency c section that day.
We got to hospital at 8am and were admitted for monitoring. Yes we were in labour and 4 cm dialted. Before I knew it I was in hospital gown and going down the theatre.

The environment for the elective c section was so much more relaxed than that of the emergency c section. I knew what was going to happen, everyone was calm and nothing was rushed.

Before I knew it I could hear the nurse tell Jamie "your about to have a baby" and Jamie looked over the sheets to see Liams head emerge, he said it was awesome. Then we heard crying and I was in tears, my little Liam had finally been born.

Jamie went over to take photos of Liam and I peeked over to the side to see him. I saw he had the biggest set on him LOL

They brought Liam over and I was able to hold him for a while and the nurse took a photo of the 3 of us in theatre, it was so lovely.

They took Liam and dad away whilst the finished up and I had to spend over an hour in recovery for the spinal to wear off but was so overwhelmed when I came up to the room to see Jamie and Liam there.

Our family were downstairs with Jordan (son #1) so he was brought up to see his new borther and I was so excited to see my 2 boys have their 1st hug.

I can truly say that although i was desperate for a VBAC now that Liam is here I am not so worried over the method of his birth. I am just so overwhelmed I have been blessed with 2 healthy boys.
