    Rebecca Vicki 17/11/08

Where do I start??? DD2 was due on the 27th of November. The pregnancy in itself was uneventful, unlike dd1s...

I had been getting loads of pre labour pains for about 2 weeks prior to Beccas birth. I would be woken every night with pain radiating from my lower back into my thighs. It was so bad, I had to breath through it. towards birth day, I was getting these during the day, but only once or twice.

A week before she was born, I had some blood stained mucous. I thought that I would have her that day....but nothing.

The night before her birth, I was having dull period pains in my lower back and dull cramping down my legs. I didnt take much notice coz I didnt think this was it. I went to bed as usual and had a fantastic sleep, until 4 am when I woke to a slimy feeling between my legs. I felt around and the bed wasnt wet...so that wasnt my waters. I hobbled to the toilet and found a heap of blood stained mucous. I didnt have any labour pains, so went back to bed and woke around 6am.

At that stage I was getting irregular contractions. My husband got ready for work as he was only working in the next suburb. I told him I would call him if things got heated. I rand my mum at 640am and asked her to come and hang out with me and Olivia as dh was working. I told her not to rush (she is 30 minutes drive away) as things werent regular enough. She would come after she took my younger brother to school. She got here at 850am. During that time, the contractions were about 3 minutes apart and regular. When she walked in the door, we packed Olivias bags into her car, put olivias car seat in and had a bit of a yabber about our plans. While I was stnding out the front saying my goodbyes to my beautiful princess, I was getting stronger contractions. My mum started crying....I'm like....what are you crying about?!?!? She didnt like seeing me in that pain!

Within 5 minutes of her leaving, we were on our way too. DH decided to drive at an unimaginable speed. What should have taken 20 minutes took us 8minutes. I kept saying...dont speed, I'm not having this baby yet!

It took us longer to get up to the birth centre than to get to the hospital. I was determinded to walk there, all passes by offered to get a wheelchair...no way, I wanted this baby out and I figured a bit of exercise was good!

We got to the birthing centre around 1030am. My contractions were about 2 minutes apart lasting up to a minute. The midwife checked to see how dilated i was and i was 6-7cms. She had run a bath for me when I rang her before we left. I jumped in the bath around 11 am and laboured on my knees . Contractions were lasting one and a half miutes and only 30 second break. It was so intense and I was so tired, but I kept visualising my baby to keep me going. I remember feeling the transition and my body shuddering. I knew it was time to push and within 10 minutes my little princes was here. I remember her head being birthed and then when the rest of her body birthed, i bent down between my legs, grabed her and turned aroung and put her on my chest....all in one sweeping movement. That was the most amazing part....i've never done it before and my instincts just told me what to do.

Shes so perfect. Apgar scors of 9 and 9. She fed an hour after birth. Dh and I got to sit in the birth unit for hours after without her being toucdhed by anyone. It was amazing.

She weighed 3.3kgs, length 48.5cmns. Born at 1201pm after 6 ours of labour.
    No drugs, no tears....yay!

A big thank you to my midwife at the Monash hospital. Also to my student midwife Susan whao followed me through my pregnancy birth andb came to see me the following day... she was fantastic.

My mum was great looking asfter Olivia.

But most of all...my dh Adam, wituhout him, I wouldnt have got thhrough it. What a special man he is and what a great Father and

Yes Rachel- we brought the fridge the day before and it was supposed to be delivered between 11am and 2pm. I did say to the fella at the store....what happens if! Just thinking I was being funny. I rang the delivery guy on the way to the hospital, mid contraction and got it delivered the following day!! Great fridge too
