9th Sept 2011 - My due date

woke up for the second time feeling pain free (the last 10 weeks or so id had a terrible pressure pain down low - like something was going to fall out). i started doing a few things around the house.

10 - 10.30 am - hopped in the shower, got out & dried myself, bent over to pick up the bathmat and felt some liquid drop all over the floor - looked down and it was the consistency & colour of honey. rang the hospital, they said to make my way in. rang my dh and asked him to come home, rang mum and asked her to come up. got dressed and got a few things together. mum arrives and she starts finishing off the housework while we wait for dh. he arrives home half an hour later has a shower & we are on our way..

arrived at the hospital about midday???? straight into the labour room - toilet - meconium on my pad. dr does an internal - it was my hind water that had leaked at home, the advised me they were breaking my water and putting me on the synto drip. i was only 1cm dialated. the s&s earlier that week had done nothing!!

i lose track of time here!

after hours and hours of being in labour i asked for pethadine.. i ended up having another one when i was allowed.

i think this was early morning of 10th sept -

the contractions were at the point where they were unbearable and only a minute apart.. i still wasnt dialated past 3cms.. they advised me i should get an epidural so id calm down. so i accepted.

i got a few hours rest..

had an internal done at 6am - i was 10cms dialated! i could start pushing!

8am - i started to push

9am - dr came in and gave me an internal - i was not 10cm dialated - i was 9cm and baby was posterior. she tried getting me to 10cm but couldnt.

they advised me i needed an emergency c-section. i bawled my eyes out - was not expecting that.

10am - i was wheeled into the theatre room - they upped my epidural dose and started testing to see if it was working, i advised them i could feel some liquid running down my vagina.

they cut my belly open and started to pull the baby out - i could feel it. not a tugging sensation but pain.

they asked dh to leave as they were putting me under.

at 10.29am our beautiful baby girl was born
3456 grams, 48 cms long

i got to hold her a little while later once i was out of theatre.

not the way i wanted to bring my child into the world, but she is here and she is absolutly beautiful
