My amazing birth of Jaxon William - 15.12.2008

All the way through my pregnancy DP kept saying that bub no 2 was going to be born on the 15th December....i kept thinking yeh..yeh, i think i know my body!

I finished up work at 36wks and as i had my our first son at 37wks i was kind of expecting for this one to arrive prior to the 40wks as well, i never really got the nesting thing happening only the excessive tiredness the week prior, to the point i was wanting to sleep all day and all night. Saturday the 13th arrived and we were invited to my work Chrissy party which i was dragged along reluctantly too, i felt quite weird is all i can descirbe it as...just kind of out of it. The next day the 14th DP was getting a little edgy as i had been putting off DTD for a couple of weeks as i knew that is what got labour moving with our son and i wanted to give this bub as much time in the womb as possible. By the time night arrived i was running around making sure everything was in order before i could go to bed as i just had a feeling bub might arrive the next day. I should point out too that by this stage we hadn't decided on a boys name, everything that i liked DP didn't, so we finally sat down at 11pm and chose a name for a boy...we didn't know what we were having!

We finally got to bed quite late and i woke around 4am needing to go to the loo, everything was still normal...then i settled back in bed and just as i was about to drift off to sleep i got my first twinge and then my second and so on....they were only 10mins apart so i knew from my first labour that if it was the real thing it was only pre labour. I told DP to get up and go to work and i would let him know if i needed him at home as he was only a 5min drive from home to work. He decided to come home at about 11am as i was in the bath and i only just lost my plug as i was getting in the bath. I got out and had some lunch, wrote out my xmas cards and got DP to go and put them in the post and i went and had a lay down as i thought this might be the last chance i get for a while. I had been laying down for an hour and a half when all of a sudden the pains picked up a notch and i got this really weird feeling in my pelvis as though the baby moved right down...almost felt as though the baby was moving though the pelvis. I told DP that i wanted to go to the hospital as it felt a bit weird and i wanted to get checked out.
We put my bags in the car and went and picked DS up from school, dropped him at a friends place and headed to the hospital.
I strodded up to the reception in maternity ward and i was greeted by the rudest of lady's, she got on the phone to the middies and said there was a lady standing there who thinks she is in labour....i think cause i wasn't screaming the whole ward down and instead standing there with a huge smile on my face that she thought i didn't know my body!
Anyway i was directed into the delivery suite where i was given an internal and i was 3cm and very favourable, so she asked my permission if i would like a sweep and wait around for another hour or so to see if it gets things moving...by this time it was about 3.30pm. That was all fine and then we went for a walk around the hospital grounds...i must have looked pretty funny stopping for each contraction for all public to see. I got back to the suite and they were about 4mins apart and she was about to send my home when dinner arrived, i gave this to DP cause there is no way i could stomach any food. At about 5.30pm they picked up even more and all of a sudden they were on top of each other, they got so full on so quick she didn't even have a chance to monitor me. DP was sitting on the recliner with me on my knees kneeling over him while he massaged my back constantly. The middie come in at about 6.15pm to get me to get up and go to the loo as she thought it might progress more if i could empty my bladder. The loo was in the other birthing suite so i had to walking around to the other room next door. I sat on the loo and done what i had to too and as i was about to get up my waters broke...phew i was on the loo so no mess! I got up with DP helping me and all of a sudden i HAD TO PUSH....this baby was about to be born in a ensuite. Poor DP was holding my up and here i am pushing this baby out in the middle of a corridor with no middie in sight, so he basically picked me up and carried me back to the room and pushed the nurse buzzer. By the time she got to us i was on the bed on all fours pushing and there they were trying to strip me off while his head was half way out...one more push and he was out, i looked down and there was another perfect little boy born at 6.34pm weighing 3007kg/6pound 10oz 53cm long. My active labour was only 3.5hrs!

We all decided that i would lay there and let him breastfeed while i delivered the placenta naturally, i felt so good that i went home the next day. I love giving birth the only thing i was upset with was that i wasn't pregnant anymore, it is such a beautiful experience.
