Am I the ONLY Mum in the world???

    Held hostage by my baby??

Seriously, that facebook video with the dad is ME except I am trapped in a bed with an almost 12 month old attached to the breast!!!

How much longer is he going to *need* my boob in his mouth to go to sleep???

If I sit down for too long DS1 attaches himself, and if DS2 feedng DS1 will often come take him off or go on other 1, at night I have DS2 in bed most of night! ahhhhhhhh. Nearly 2 years of no break!!

Great to hear I am not alone!!

Going to mix things up a bit tomorrow with our night time routine...I don't mind the feeding to sleep...it's when it takes 1 1/2 hours of staring at a blank wall (he wont fall asleep in my arms anymore)!!

Hun, it's hard sometimes - a lot of the time. It's easy to feel resentful. It's easy to feel that this is a situation you created or breastfeeding created. But it's not. Your baby is a normal and healthy baby. Now it's breastfeeding that relaxes him and helps him drift off. Tomorrow it will be a bedtime story, his favourite - you will need to read it over and over again. And don't skip pages he will know - and you'll have to start again.. After that it will be 10 glasses of water, 10 trips to the toilet. Just 5 mins more. Just one more kiss......
Then it will stop. They won't want you or need you anymore and those nights breastfeeding will start to look different. But right now, it's hard and constant and you can't see how the story ends....or if it ever ends. But it does. You are doing a great job meeting his needs and it's OK to be a little frustrated at times.

Thank you Barb, such beautiful, kind words.
DD (almost 4yo) weaned at 4 months and was one of those 'text book' self settlers, out to bed at 7 and not to be heard from till 7am.
*sigh* I really, really NEEDED to hear that...thank you!!

My DS is only 11 months but I totally get the frustration. He feeds to sleep EVERY sleep and wont feed anywhere other than in the bedroom in the dark. *sigh*

I second ChrissyT, well said Barb, that's lovely and does put it in perspective. Now I just have to remember to remember that when I'm sitting in the pitch black bedroom

Oh SO what Barb said. We rock to sleep here. Rocking and rocking and rocking my 10kg, rasberry-blowing, wriggling, sleep-resistant little monster and so often I start to resent it when my back and my arms are aching and I just want my body back. And then I try to imagine the day that she looks up at me and says 'don't want cuddles, put me down'. And that brings me back to the fact that for now, I get all the cuddles I can bear!

Barb- DD crawled up on me and fell asleep the other night. It's those little moments that I think "she won't do that one day". It brings a tear to my eye every time I think that!

I had a very similar situation with C, then at about 16 months he decided he didn't need it anymore At all actually and if I tried I was slapped and bit and after a couple of days I gave up wrestling with him and he was weaned

It's very frustrating when you're living it Will he settle ok for DH if you go out?
