    Argh! Stop pulling it!

Amelia has this awful habit, she's had it since she was about a week old, but it's getting worse as she gets stronger. It's like she's trying to detach my nipple. She'll be happily feeding, then suddenly and without warning throw her head around like she's an animal with a particularly tough bit of meat. Arrrrrrrrgh it hurts! I've tried holding her head still but that makes her squirm even more She's always hurting me in some way, but this is the worst. If I didn't love her so much, I'd just never go near her until she was old enough to understand

Not really looking for a solution, just sympathy or empathy. Anyone else's bub think your nipples are portable?

And as I type, little fingernails dig into my arm.... Argh!

Yep - I've had two like that.

A LC told me it was because they are trying to get more milk so they pull back like that. With DS2 though, it isn't always the case. I think he just does it for funsies.

DD1 (who was my other elastic nipple baby) would also scratch me. Thankfully none of the others have done that. Ouchies!

If you feed with you both lying on your side then you can put a hand behind her back (gently) and make it harder for her to pull. If at all possible you want to squash this habit now - when they do it with teeth it is even less fun

Owwwwch! DD was terrible for that, worse when she had teeth and would look up at me and deliberately slowly pull back scraping her teeth along my nipple!

Oh my gosh, how timely! DS has just started this lovely behavior - at 12mths!! It's like he's become too lazy to detach properly, he just wrenches off. He's actually grazed me over the weekend

Hold your hand on bub's back rather than her head. If she pulls back, you can push her into you and then at least she can't pull back too far.

DD2 was doing this for a little while. I just watched her when I knew she was just about finished and when she went to do it I would push (gently) her right into my breast. She soon stopped doing it. She never cried it just surprised her the first few times and I guess she did not like it.

Teni Chase does that too so Amelia isn't the only one who thinks hurting mummy is fun. thanks for posting this thread, got some good advice to stop Chase doing it hopefully. Now if I could get him to stop chomping down on my nipple at the end of his feeds....Chase also used to scratch my chest and just recently has worked out how to pinch my other nipple while I am feeding him LOL

Whenever Jake does that, it's followed by a rumble and a big poo ! lol (for him, not for me, just to clarify)

Shayla does exactly the same thing. She is at the stage where her surroundings distract her, so she tends to try to look around with my nipple in her mouth. Luckily it doens't hurt me too much. I think after more than two years of breastfeeding and now over 6 months of tandem feeding, my nipples are just used to all sorts of punishment lol!

Oh, her lovely new habit though is pinching my breasts while feeding. Not just a little finger and thumb pinch, she does the type where she scrunches her whole hand into a fist with my breast tissue squished inside, then wrenches her hand away. Ouch! Double ouchies between nail clipping, haha!

She's definitely decided pinching is fun Though she's starting to enjoy stroking my face gently (before balling her hand into a fist with lots of skin in it )

Shayla has amped up her hand pinching and is now leaving little gouges on my breasts! They became quite red. She paws at me like a little baby tiger does to her mummy tiger, lol. So I found a solution, I put a sock on her hand, lol! She only does damage with the arm that is under the breast, so I pop a sock on that one and she seems quite content about it

DD now comes off mid feed sometimes and flicks my nipple...
