My little man has been horribly sick so I took him to the doctor yesterday. Turns out he has two ear infections and a chest infection as well . I felt like a terrible mum for not taking him sooner but I left feeling like the most amazing mum and really really impressed with my GP.
She asked if I was still feeding DS (11 months) and I told her I was and she then went on about how wonderful it is that women keep feeding their little ones and let them have as much booby as they want for as long as they want and not give in to the pressures of society not to feed or to wean. She went on at what an amazing thing I was doing for my DS and it is the best thing for him and to keep it up! She then picked up DS and said "your mummy is so good giving you such yummy milk and you certainly look good for it (DS is a chubby bubba). Now you keep drinking your mummy's booby milk for as long as you like and for as long as you want and don't let anyone make you stop".
She went on and on about the major benefits of breast feeding. She was just so passionate about the healing benefits and health benefit of b/f. It was just so nice to get a GP who is so encouraging about b/f and really supportive. As I was leaving she said to DS "now you enjoy your few days of as much booby as you want cause mummy won't say no to you while your sick". How gorgeous of her being so supportive and encouraging. Such a wonderful change.
I left feeling absolutley amazing about being able to feed my son and help him feel better.
Just wanted to share,
Dan.
