What bottles do you use for your toddler?

Hey everyone,

My DS is 15 months now and i want to buy new bottles for him but don't know what brand/type to get.

He is only having 2, sometimes 3 bottles of milk a day now and we're still using the Avent bottles. He has a bottle filled with water for during the day and at meal times.

Not sure whether to go to sippy type or straw so just wondering what everyone else has tried.

I think he will be ok with whatever i get as he drinks water from my drink bottle (it has one of those twist up sipper thingys...?)

I did buy a heinz sippy cup months and months ago but he didn't like it but is ok with it now but it's too tiny for him now. I also bought the green sippy teat type thingys to fit the avent bottles for slow transition but they either leak all over the place or nothing comes out.

So what are your toddlers using for milk and water?

DD1 has always had a sippy cup for water.

She is nearly 20 months now and still has 2 bottles of milk a day, but as soon as the teats go funny we are switching her to the sippy cup instead. We would have done it sooner but we had spare teats laying around and thought we may as well use them (DD2 uses a different type of bottle)

They are supposed to be weaned off a bottle when they are 1 apparently

My DS liked the Pigeon MagMag cup which had a kind of teat/spout and then transitioned to the Avent Magic Cups with no problem by 14 months.

16 month old DD simply WILL NOT drink milk from anything other than a bottle. Tried various sippy cups, warm milk, cold milk, flavoured milk, formula...no way. She takes one sip, pulls a face and hands it back. She will happily drink water from a water bottle, a sippy cup, a glass, the tap in the bath while it is running, a bucket (yes, bucket, when she is playing with water on the back deck, she will drink from a bucket like a cup). But not milk.

So she's just using some MAM bottles with a fast flow teat I got from Target. She used MAM Ultivent bottles with her formula as a baby so she was familiar with the teat. She doesn't eat much dairy so at the moment I have decided that the milk consumption is far more important than the vessel in which it is contained. When she gets a bit bigger we'll try and talk her into a big girl's cup, like her big brother.

My boys use/d Avent or Nuk bottles as that is the kind of text they preferred...it was also the same shape as their dummies.

Sippy cups - between 2006 and 2010 I have bought about 2 dozen sippy cups because a) they did not like a particular one b)left home without one so had to buy another c) DS#2 liked diff ones to DS#1 and d) i felt like buying them a new one. I have so many diff ones!

Sippy cups are only used for water / juice in our household and they have one within reach everyday from the age of about 8 months (water) - to learn to use them and now - so they have access to a drink. In Summer they have chilled water with ice cubes in them...something fun for them.

I know this is going to sound stupid but you did remove the little round silicone stopper from the bottom didn't you?

Curly - i tried the green teats with or without the silicone seal and no good. Nothing comes out.

We're a bit tight with money at the moment so i don't want to have to keep buying different bottles for him. They are pretty expensive.
