Well said Hotl.
I got asked today (again) how often I feed DS - he's a big bub at over 8kg at 15 weeks. I honestly have no idea as I feed on demand and let him determine the feed length etc. I love feeding but others seem to think it must be a chore. Are they kidding! It gives me an excuse to sit down and chance to stare into his eyes - just love it.
That's sweet Dusty. We do the same - demand feed and DS determines when he's "done". I've never been able to work out how to feed a baby four hourly etc to a schedule - particularly if they catnap like mine do, how do you make them wait another hour or so before allowing them to feed ha ha!
There really is nothing like the bond you feel while breastfeeding - I love it :)
Sick bubba waking and feeding every 1-2 hours overnight (we don't cosleep so get up & down). Just when I thought the newborn tiredness was behind me.... He's also not feeding well in the day, arching his back and crying. I think wonder week(s), over tiredness, overstimulation are all combining. Nappies are showing he is still well hydrated. GP weighed him to do AB dose and he's 8.4 kg at 16 weeks - proud BFing mumma :)
Dusty hope bubba is better x
Just another newbie to BF question.
Bubs is sleeping at least 6 hours over night and the last 3 nights it's been 10 hours. I wake up in a puddle which is a bit yuk! My question is will the long break between feeds effect my supply?
I usually express about 50-80mls after she goes to sleep as I need to store some milk for the days I work.
Is this enough or should I wake up and express more during the night?
Dd is only eating 20-30 mins on one side per feed ... Is that enough?
My milk came in last night and my boob still feels hard after a feed but she is happily sleeping for 4hrs after each feed
She was born wed afternoon
Jelly I am no expert but my DD was the same for the first few weeks. She would fall asleep after about 30 mins, she was feeding every 2-3 hours. She then started feeding both sides about 3 weeks for longer more like 50 mins all up and going 3-4 hours between feeds.
Ok I guess my boobs are just gearing up still cause they still feel tingly and hard and dd doesn't seem to suck as hard now that my milk has comfortable in
Congratulations Jelly!
If your little one is having wet and poohy nappies and sleeping well then she would be getting plenty. :)
Often boobies over produce in the first weeks, but it will settle down soon.
Enjoy your babymoon.
Sounds fine, Jelly, if you're happy with how she is otherwise. My DD2 never bf for longer than 5 mins, even as a nb, some babies are more efficient feeders than others. Is she sleepy? How was the birth? Congratulations!
Sorry, I haven't been getting notifications and only just saw this.
Thanks for the support. The BFing is still going strong. DD is now 14.5 weeks old. At this point last time I was really doubting myself and in 1.5 weeks time would give my first bottle of formula. That won't be happening this time!
The reflux is going well. DD2 is on losec and doing well.
Jennifer : she is a little sleepy but she's still working out the normal jaundice , labour was 1hr quick drug free delivery
So far bf going well she attaches herself - left side takes a little longer as its a different shape and it takes longer to get milk flowing - then she feeds for 10 Ish mins and sometimes will do 10 mins on other side half hr later
My boobs are settling a bit and don't feel like exploding lol
Only problem we seem to have now is wind poor bubba and that unsettled period at night which is he'll
I can't believe I'm actually breastfeeding and its easy , I'm still scared and un confident but yay
How's everyone going? We've just headed north to visit family and DS is feeding much more frequently in the heat. I love how at almost 5 months he can now manoeuvre my nipple in with his hands as they point slightly to the outside. Also he's started the hand pumping motion so it will come faster!
14 weeks today and it doesn't hurt anymore lol!
I told DH today I am shifting my goal to 12 months from 6 :)
Bf going well very easy but it still makes me feel nauseous and anxious during letdown , also discovered I can't have chocolate because it makes her scream for hours
Jellybean, both my kids were upset as littlies when I had dairy. The good news is they eventually grew out of it. It just sucks until then.
Have you read anything abour d-mer? could this be happening with your let down? https://www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfi...n-reflex-d-mer
I think I might have to change my ticker soon. It has been 1 week since DD has had a feed. I am thinking about getting her a breastmilk pendant or bracelet to celebrate our journey.

Aw Hot1, congrats on your DD being able to choose her own time. How are you feeling about it?
Bit daunted by tandem feeding come January, mostly 'cause I'm not sure DD2 will want to share. I am also hoping there's no more night bfs by then!
Congrats Joeve on 14 wks!
Jellybean, hope you can manage the feeling. I'm not fond of the bfing feeling atm, but I look at how much DD2 loves it and watching her little face just makes it so much better.
