I have been on the phone to the Red Cross this morning. The last time I spoke to them I was advised that I can't donate blood while breast feeding. Today I was told that you can, but not before the baby is 9 months old. So I have booked in my next blood donation.
Just thought I would bring this to everyone's attention considering the fact that the blood levels are always low there.
I was told it was nine months too and fine while bf, althought while I was g they rang me an I said I couldn't donate because I was pg, they said oh well we won't contact you again until twelve months after your due date.
Still waiting. I really should call.
Bugger!! Lol. I have been trying to donate for years but never able to due to meds then pg then bf.... Noone eve told me it was until 9 months!! They call me every few months even but now I am pg again I can't now anyway....
Thanks for posting Ali. That must have changed - up until recently they didn't allow any bfing mums to donate (although I know some who forgot to mention they were bfing). That's really good news that it has changed.
