Thanks tk, the lump is right at the top of my chest at the front so not sure how to get bubs chin there unless I hold her upside down lol. :) Will keep massaging though. Just had a warm shower which has helped a bit.

LOL mmm yep upside down is one option...
Could you lay her down and hover over the top of her so she is upside down to the breast? or lay alongside her the wrong way again so chin is at the top of the breast.
Glad that the shower helped... I have often jumped in a warm shower and expressed like a woman possessed but I am lucky in that I have a stash of EBM in the freezer so don't feel as bad with the gold running down the drain.
Hope the lump settles down soon for you.
That's exactly how I have felt lately too! Felt sad that she has dropped her feeds in the daytime and isn't needing as much at night now (however the night feeds IS a good thing for as we are getting more sleep the last week!!! it continues)
It's sad isnt' it? I hope my DD doesn't wean anytime soon also. We are ttc soon so i'm a bit nervous that when I'm pg she will want to wean herself off but then even if that happens i'll be happy she weaned herself when SHE was ready kwim?? Rather than me forcing her.
Our BF journey only felt like it really started when DD was 4mths old due to all our probs we had in the first 4mths so it really only feels like we've been BFing for 8mths iykwim?? Even though its 12 mths :D:D
Although if she keeps BITING me..... it friggen hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
again today.... a few times!
Eluned - i know! It's gone super fast!! Exciting though! :p
You are doing the right thing... keep massaging it, hot showers, keep getting DD to feed off that side (but don't forget your other side!), express a little for relief...
TK gave some great advice there. I'm fortunate in that I never had to experience that with DD (except i experienced everything else ) I sure hope you feel better much soon
TK - you should have your HAB by now? Did you get it? :)
omg 5 days til DD's birthday!! woohoo! so much to organise!
HAB recieved today - had to go collect it from the post office - it was dropped off there yesterday. Thank you
I am waiting for a sleep regression. DD sleeps about 6-8+ hours overnight - some random nights she does wake overnight for a feed but it is not a regular thing. Sorry, I don't mean to gloat to those with sleep issues... I know this good thing may not last forever but I will enjoy it whilst it lasts
Hey all... Been a while but got so busy over xmas.. Still fighting here, and its a real fight. She was more than ready for solids at 6mo so I started her straight away and she took to it like a trooper.. I think it has saved our feeding as the three meals she eats a day I simply couldnt keep up with. Mummys super food stopped being so super when she stopped putting on weight with it... Spent Nov and Dec at 6kgs. Nurse wasnt going to panic yet as she also dropped to 5th percentile in height, but I wasnt overly thrilled by it.
one day at a time right now - but July is so far away and I don't know if I am going to make it anymore....
Well, first let's celebrate 6 months Inertia! :leap:
As you say, one day at a time - no need to think ahead to July, just let it come if it will.
Well done on 6 months Inertia!! One day at a time is the best way to keep going I reckon. You're doing great :)
TK - how's the HAB going?
Shanti - Happy Birthday to your little princess for tomorrow and congratulations on BF'ing for ONE YEAR!! :)
AFM, I managed to clear the lump so feeling much better. DD is settling into being a big cluster feeder I think and likes to feed to sleep even though she may have had a big feed not 10 minutes prior. I actually tried a dummy with her today because DH went back to work and it was a bit hectic trying to get DS down for a nap and DD settled. She refused the dammy, spat it literally ;) kept pushing it out and then crying louder than what she would if I had just put her down normally. So I probably won't perservere with that - will just give her boob!
I must say though, I have had a few flickering thoughts today of what if I don't have enough milk. She feeds well but oh so often. It's like she'll have a big feed 20 minutes each side with a burp and nappy change in between and then 15 minutes later she'll want it again. Well she is unsettled so I offer it and she takes it! Just going with it atm and keep telling myself that she'll space her feeds out herself in her own time when she's ready.....
Shanti - just wanted to pop in and say Happy Birthday to your gorgeous DD, and congratulations on 12 months of breastfeeding - you're an inspiration, to have overcome so much and perservered to keep breastfeeding!
:happyforyou: Shanti!
Eluned - watch the output, that's the best sign. If she's doing lots of wees and poos and settled at least some of the time, then she's getting enough. DS fed aaaaaaall the time when he was little. It's not just for milk, but comfort too. Sounds like she's very sure of what she wants;)
Hi girls!!
Thank you for the birthday wishes for DD! She had a very good day and got very spoilt by her little friends who came over to play! :D
I am stoked to reach 12mths Breastfeeding today :leap: I started a thread.....
Here's the link if anyone is interested in my story! I'm very proud of myself & my little DD for putting up with such a persistent - no quit Mummy!!!!

Thanks marcellus. Her output is great. She in fact poo'd all over me today lol and her nappies are heavy and wet. I'm discovering she just likes to be close to me...think I've got myself a velcro baby.
On another note, yesterday afternoon woke up from my afternoon nanna nap with a sore throat and sore, full, heavy boobs. DD & I fed to sleep lying down, I slept for a couple of hours, she slept a bit longer than that. She emptied both when she woke up though. I have no lumps, just a bit tender on the right side. Could it be mastitis? Would I have more symptoms? All I have is the sore throat and a general yuk feeling that goes with it. Just thought it might be seeing as I had the sore boob at the same time...
I had to share this!!
Today I was feeding DD and she had finished and came off and her dolly we named Jessica was sitting on the couch next to us and I picked her up and put her on 'booby' and said "look, Jessica is having booby now!" and DD just giggled and smiled, she thought it was so fun!! Then DD had some more and then came off and picked up Jessica and put Jessica on my boob exactly the way i had shown her and let Jessica have a drink. I said "good girl for sharing now Jessica is feeding and having milk!" and then she had another turn! She just loved it.... it was a really cute special moment, teaching my 1yr old about Breastfeeding!!
I suppose that's good teaching her that also incase we ever tandem feed :) :)
DD isnt' biting me as much or as hard the last 2-3 days now!! What I am doing must be working! Yay.... I was starting to think she was trying to wean herself :(
Eluned - DD has always been a velcro baby too! How are you feeling today? Any better? You must have alot of milk so that's wonderful.... :D
How are you feeling now Eluned? Any better?
That's lovely Shanti. DS gave his toy cat a little feed last night:lol:
Aawww so cute Shanti.
Marcellus, feeling better, throat still sore but not as bad as yesterday. I ended up taking a panadol last night before bed as my throat was killing me. Boobies have been fine. DD seems to be feeding really well and the cluster feeding has slowed down a little. Today, she fit into a 000 onesie for the first time so I figure she's still growing!
I have to say it's so much better this time around without the stress of gain issues. I'm really enjoying breastfeeding :)
That's good to hear Eluned!
HI All,
My bub is very new and I've had such a battle with breast feeding but I feel like I've turned the corner and bub is finally feeding without top ups and feeding 3-4 hourly (mum is slightly more sane) yesterday we had a very unsettled day, Lincoln (bub) didn't sleep all day unless he was in mums arms I put him down and up and crying.
last night I had the worst upset tummy, just wondering if this would transfer to Lincoln. Also does anyone have a good website on what to and not to eat when BF?
Thanks
welcome and congrats on your little man greenslw!
the first several weeks are pretty full on - baby can be very clingy, and some simply need to be close to mum to be able to settle - the big wide world is very overwhelming. it took several weeks before i could put DD down during the day -she just needed to be near me. now she rarely wants to snuggle up to me for sleep, prefers her cot! lol
with the upset tummy, if you make sure you are cleaning your hands well etc, it shouldn't be passed to your bubba. the best thing you can do is to continue feeding as often as you can, keeping yourself well hydrated etc. the immune response your body develops will be passed through your milk to the baby. if he does show signs of it, make sure he stays hydrated - and the BM is probably the best thing for him as it's easily digestible.
as to the food to eat - i found the best thing i did was keep a food diary for a couple of weeks - i kept note of everything i ate, and if DD had a really windy day, i would work back and find what it was. in general, it came if i had more tea than normal (i drink stronger tea and the caffeine was impacting her - same deal with coffee and chocolate). every baby is going to react differently though. for me, i continued to eat chilli and curry through the pg and while bf, and DD never reacted to it - in fact, now she's started on solids, she loves them - freakish bubba!
