Breastfeeding General Chatter #12

Shanti - that is awesome! We hit 13 months today! :) That is so cute that your DD is so obsessed with "boo-bee"! DS is not quite that obsessed, but he does still love his booby time with mummy. As I breastfeed with nipple shields, I keep the shields in little tuppaware containers - I keep one in DS's bedroom (for night feeds) and the other on hand in the lounge room or in my handbag. The other morning DS was in his room while I was in the shower, and DH told me that he picked up the container and walked off trying to find me saying "oob, oob"! So cute!

aw, that is so cute, STerla.

i think bilby's first word (after mumma and dada) was "boobie". that melted my heart too.

How adorable! DD let's me know she wants milk but putting her head on my chest and blowing raspberries... no idea how that started haha.

Well, I'm quite excited (and nervous) about the fact that I am going to be a demo mum at my local groups education class in a few weeks! Not sure what to expect but I was happy to volunteer :)

woohooo! well done girls on all your milestones!! 3wks, 12mths, 13mths.... 14.5mths it's such a huge achievement!!!! :clap: we rock!!!!

Eluned - you did awesome! And your DS self weaned himself that is the best thing for him ;) i remember your journey well because lots of it was very similar to my journey with DD. and i know that feeling when you finally get them off the comp feeds and your milk supply established and BF's only again... its awesome feeling nothing compares to it.

Gigi, my DD's 3rd word also was 'boo-bee' after Mum & Dadda..... hehe now she doesn't stop saying it hahaha all day long every day!

I counted how many words DD can say now and I worked it out that it's about 11 words!! I'm so proud of her... she's always been very good with language and sounds (makes animal sounds!).... her latest word is 'baby' when she see's a little baby she says it! She's growing up too fast.... :D

I'm group librarian for my local ABA group and took home the books yesterday for the first time. There are a few kids books amongst them, picture books too, about mummy's milk etc and i've been reading some to DD... she loved them!!!! And wanted me to read them to her again and again! Kept handing me one of the books to read! How could I resist? ;)

I have now lost 9.5kg !!!! In 6 weeks!!!! :dance: I'm sooo proud of myself. Just eating healthy, less food, more exercise (not much tho!) and BF 24/7 :lol: sure helps!!! I was going to night wean DD but I am going to keep going feeding thru the night as it is helping my weight loss :rofl: huge benefits for me haha although more sleep would be good. :rolleyes:
Finally getting rid of my pg weight AND pre-pg weight too!!!! I still feel I have a long way to go though..... then we can start ttc #2 !!! (and put it all back on haha)

Things are going well here, only 3 more days till we reach 12 months, i honestly didn't think i would make it this far.

Shanti - I have just taken on group librarian for my local ABA group!! Some of our books are greatly outdated but some are quite good. I read them to DD whilst she was having a feed last night she got excited when I changed voices even thought I was reading quite a technical book LOL

We have made it to 12 months :D

I have a question for anyone who has breastfed one child whilst pregnant with another.

My boy will be 4 in May and still a booby-holic. I'm in the very early weeks of pregnancy (probably around 8 weeks I think) and am suddenly getting that engorged feeling but yet he'll feed for a few seconds than say "this bitty is empty" :lol: (he calls them 'bittys" :lol: )

The engorged feeling is driving me crazy the most. Feels like when he was a newborn! I get all full and tender and sore and when he latches on I have to take deeeeep breaths for a few seconds :lol:

Is this normal? I'm not fussed if I'm losing my milk, I have no preference about tandem-feeding and will be content if he self-weans during this pregnancy. But he'll probably stick with it :lol: he's a real booby man :lol:



Well done on everyone for breastfeeding!! :clap: It's a tough road but perserverance pays off!

I have a little woohoo for me. I've fed little Nao in public a few times now! Supermarket in the sling - that was tricky. Once next to playground and the last was tonight at a restaurant. Though there was one guy at the restaurant who kept shooting me filthy looks and rolling his eyes. :(

Also a question - am I meant to avoid potential allergy foods for Nao? eg; DH's family has a shellfish allergy in some members. I dont know if DH and Munchkin are allergic though. I read somewhere you have to avoid stuff like that, but I dont know if it was credible or not.

Hi Girls!

Noone has posted in here for a while so thought I would come and say :hello:

We recently went to Sydney for Easter. We were sitting on the Monorail going around Darling Harbour and our 14mth DD was sitting on my Mum's lap next to me and pointing to my Mum's boobs and saying "boobies" and we were laughing.... then, she looked at the lady next to Mum and pointed to her boobies and said "boobies" !!! Haha!!! It was sooo funny and cute, and the lady laughed but I think she was a bit surprised! haha I looked the other way and smiled and Mum said to her "she is still being breastfed and has a great vocabulary already" hahaha :rofl: PMSL.....what else can you say? hehe
DD has recently started saying also "boobs" instead of just booby its so cute!!!

We are still going here, but have dropped back a lot more recently. DS now has a breastfeed first thing in the morning, before/after his nap (all up equals one feed) and of a night - then usually about once a night. So, now down to 4 feeds a day. A big drop from the 8+ feeds we were doing a couple of months ago. I'm just so happy to still be going though - I really want to get to 2 years, but we'll see how we go :).

Hi all, just joining in as I'll be lurking until baby #2 arrives in July. I fed DS for 8 months but had big problems with low weight gains, sleepy baby, low supply, I pumped for ages, was on Motillium..basically my LC was my BFF! DS was also a fussy feeder and when breast refusal hit at 8 months my delicate supply suffered and that was that. I am feeling proud of myself though for getting to 8 months as I know I perservered as best I could.

So I feel a more successful BF'ing journey this time will "heal" me, KWIM? I don't want to put pressure on myself and my first goal is 4 weeks and I'll take it from there.

Looking forward to some advice about feeding a newborn.
