    Breast feeding, solids and poop...

Ok so DD is starting solids and has had a small ice cube of homemade veg every night for the two weeks and I figured that solids would make her poop more often (she is a once every 6-9 day pooper) but nope it hasn't. It's still be 7 days since her last poop. Her poop after the first week was still soft and like a paste so wasn't hard at all.

Now she doesn't seem in pain, her tummy is soft me she's not straining but how can this be normal? Wouldn't having solids mean she has food to digest and waste that needs to be expelled?

    Should I be worried?

It was explained to me when dd was like this that it's not unusual for them to not go often as their body is actually using everything that goes in, so there isn't much waste to get rid of. As her good intake increases it may become a drama if she's not going more regularly, but dd was over ten months and still only going every ten days or so. Around her first birthday, she started going daily again. E was a bsl babe so I don't know exactly how much was going in but I know a fair bit was

You'll probably see this change gradually as she increases the amount of food she takes. Now she's still mostly on milk, so there's still not much extra to be pooped out.

well she did poop yesterday and while it wasnt hard hard.. it was a squishy solid... and she didnt seem very happy trying to pass it, im guessing she is used to pasty poo which doesnt require much effort..

i think I may cut down solids to every other night and increase her bf while she gets used to it

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about the solids at this age
