This thread has been created as a general chatter thread for those who are breastfeeding their babies. It's designed for those who want to support each other in their breastfeeding journey, however long that may be. So let's start a cheersquad for all those who would like to support one another, for as long as they decide to breastfeed.

Hi girls!

Talking about poo-splosions!!! I have a great story that happened recently.....!!! haha

On Thurs I decided to head out to the shops just for 15mins just down the road to grab something and wasn't going to bring the nappy bag with me as DD had just had a change! I then at the last minute thought "no i better just incase!" and luckily..... I got her out of the carseat and into her stroller and walked into the shop. Browsing around and talking to the shop owner and she was looking at DD etc and held something up to DD as we were trying to get DD's size and omg I noticed she had poo down her leg and on her nappy!!! (she wasnt wearing pants just cloth nappy) OMG I was so embarrassed!!!! haha
I told the lady that I had to get going as it appeared we had an 'accident' in her nappy and she noticed too and she said she wasnt phased as she had 3 kids of her own (grown up) and she said "oh it never stops does it..." LOL and we had a bit of a laugh and i got out there pretty quick!!

Back to the car and cleaned DD up, new nappy, wiped her down etc and went to put her in car seat and OMG there was poo ALL over the bottom of the carseat where her bum sits.... she had poo'd before i'd even taken her out of the carseat!!!!
i then had to put a terry flat nappy down on the carseat and she sat on that all the way home (only 3mins) and then got her home and tidied her up again and the carseat cover in the wash.... and the lambskin stroller insert in the wash too....
So thats my poo-splosion story! Nothing like that has ever happened to me before until now!! haha imagine if i'd put her on my hip, i would have been covered in poo myself!!! hehe

She was wearing an itti bitti (for those MCN users).... shame on you Itti Bitti's!!!! LOL

On a lighter note.... hope everyone had a wonderful day (sorry for the poo story.... will make sure my next story is at least breastfeeding related!!!!)

oh, that's a good one Shanti!
I never had poo-splosions after DS started on solids, not that I miss them. I think the cover/nappy combination is better for containing poos than aios or pockets. I also started using a cover over the top of sposies when we went out too, cause I think the only times we really had bad leaks was with the disposables.
(poos are breastfeeding-related anyway...)

DD tried to latch onto DPs face tonight... I think she got confused because he had a shave this morning LOL and no longer has *****les!

The running joke in my house at the moment is people saying they can't eat my lactation cookies cause they don't want to start making milk. I have reassured them it doesn't work like that but they are still apprehensive... oh well more for me!!

Thanks for those links on the breast crawl MR. I have heard about it but I think I will really research it more this time. I can't wait to get started breastfeeding again! I said to DH today I wonder if DS will want to go back on the boob once he sees the baby feeding.

As I'm leaking colustrum already, is it a good idea to express some and freeze it? Would I just express with a pump or do it with a syringe (that's how the midwives did it in hospital last time). Any benefit to trying to express so early?

Yum that recipe looks good!! I made a deliciously WICKED chocolate swirl baked cheesecake with my DH this morning for the in laws when they came over for lunch and it was soooo yummy. As yummy as the baked cheesecakes you get at the coffee club for $7 a piece!!! probably even better..... hehe
Won't be making one anytime soon again as they aren't too good for the post baby belly that is still looming

DD wasn't too interested in feeding today. She would go on and only take a few sucks and come off.... we had a very busy day though with visitors etc so that doesn't help. There is so much to see and do when you are 9mths old after all

I can't believe I've been breastfeeding for 9 beautiful months!!! I'm soooo proud of myself and DD. It's going so well. I can't imagine stopping anytime soon... our goal was to make it to 12mths and so far that is looking really great.... now I want to go beyond that. Perhaps even make it to 2yrs as WHO recommends. as long as DD and I are still happy doing so.

You might remember about 2-3 weeks ago I mentioned about a Mum who I saw breastfeeding her 3mth old (approx) outside the public toilets on a seat in the corridor towards the toilets (if that makes sense) and I'd commented to her saying "thats a great spot! nicer than in the stinky parents room huh?" and she'd appreciated the comment.... anyway, last week I sat where she had sat, and breastfed DD and it was really comfy and not stinky compared to the parents room and the chairs in there are horrid. So that's my new BF spot now too! hehe A few people looked at me curiously as I sat there feeding my DD. It's good for people to see.

Hiya girls!!! It's been a while since I posted here.... not on BB as much these days! No time! We just moved house.... loving our new home.... geez it's alot of work moving though! Especially with a baby! Luckily Mum stayed for 3 days and helped with DD heaps. Was so good having her help... someone else to change pooey nappies hehe

Breastfeeding going great here.... just a few comments from my Mum and MIL recently got me feeling annoyed more than anything.... Sitting at the table having morning tea and both Mum and MIL there (were here helping with the move) and I mentioned about DD getting her first two teeth cutting through (they have in the last week!!!) and MIL says "well as soon as she bites you know that's when you stop breastfeeding" *tisk* *tisk* !!! how annoying those comments are..... not very supportive are they?
And my Mum AGREED with her is what annoyed me too and said "yes in my day, most women weaned babies after about 8/9mths breastfeeding"... and I said, "well Mum these days times have changed and WHO recommend feeding to 2yrs and beyond" and she just looked at me.... Mum BF me til I was 10mths and MIL didnt BF either boys.

I'm so frustrated by people's lack of knowledge !!! Grrr.... vent over. Who cares really, as long as I'm doing the BEST by DD, then nothing else matters right!??

shanti - hope the teething is getting a little bit better. those comments must have been frustrating - esp with your mum & MIL both saying it!

lizj - i've been wondering how you're going. hope all is going well & those cracks are healing

it's amazing how the BF gets better & better. i am loving my MCHN centre & esp my nurse - at DS' 4mth appt she made a point of saying that he may have teeth before the next appt & he may bite, she wanted to reassure me that this does not mean i need to stop BF & she told me some strategies & also said to call if i had any problems. i thought that was a real positive considering some people's horror stories!

DP's grandma was over yesterday & was asking when we'd start solids, i explained current guidelines are 6mths. she commented that DS was obviously thriving without them & didn't need anything extra. awwww

I had to share this!!
Today I was feeding DD and she had finished and came off and her dolly we named Jessica was sitting on the couch next to us and I picked her up and put her on 'booby' and said "look, Jessica is having booby now!" and DD just giggled and smiled, she thought it was so fun!! Then DD had some more and then came off and picked up Jessica and put Jessica on my boob exactly the way i had shown her and let Jessica have a drink. I said "good girl for sharing now Jessica is feeding and having milk!" and then she had another turn! She just loved it.... it was a really cute special moment, teaching my 1yr old about Breastfeeding!!
I suppose that's good teaching her that also incase we ever tandem feed

DD isnt' biting me as much or as hard the last 2-3 days now!! What I am doing must be working! Yay.... I was starting to think she was trying to wean herself

Eluned - DD has always been a velcro baby too! How are you feeling today? Any better? You must have alot of milk so that's wonderful....

Aawww so cute Shanti.

Marcellus, feeling better, throat still sore but not as bad as yesterday. I ended up taking a panadol last night before bed as my throat was killing me. Boobies have been fine. DD seems to be feeding really well and the cluster feeding has slowed down a little. Today, she fit into a 000 onesie for the first time so I figure she's still growing!

I have to say it's so much better this time around without the stress of gain issues. I'm really enjoying breastfeeding

Shanti, it's such an amazing feeling when it's all going how it should.

I was reassured last night that Amelia has a very strong suck because I woke up this morning with a nice little hickey next to my nipple! That's what I get for feeding lying down in bed with the lights out! lol
