DD is 8 months old and has only just started showing a big interest in food over the last few weeks. For the most part I have always done BLW but I do also do mashed steamed veg and spoon feed.
DD has about 2 icecubes worth of veg once a day and sometimes some stewed fruit as well as a meal at one other time of the day. She will ask for some of our food too especially olives she loves them. As well as grated apple, bits of stoned fruit and sometimes little bits of cheese or toast crust.
A couple of weeks ago she seemed in a lot of pain while pooing. Her poo was by no means even a formed movement and still mostly mushy (olive come out as they go in not digested) After this I didn't give her any solids for a few days just BM until she had a normal pain free movement, then introduced solids again. She is still having way more breastfeeds than solids, she also drinks water and leaks out of her night nappy often so she is well hydrated.
The last two days she has been in pain again while pooing. This time the movements are quite formed some being small round nuggets but still squishable ITMS.
I'm not allowing any more cheese or bread for a while. Is this something some babies just need to get used to? Or should I cut right back on solids? She absolutely yells for food now though so I feel bad not giving it to her
I have never had this with any of my other 3 bubs so just after any advice to help her past this.
We had the same issue with DD2. We found a teaspoon of prune juice sorted it out without us having to stop solids. We only needed one teaspoon each time it happened and by the second time, it didn't happen again.
I give DD one pitted prune a day otherwise we have a very similar issue. If I forgot the prune she doesn't poop the next day and gets slightly grumpier then usual.
Normally the prune is with some wheat bix or sometimes she eats it on it's own.
I'm hoping to cut down to every other day and for her to get into her own rhythm with it.
