Right now, I'm feeding Jazz her morning feed and she is on my left, and has her hand down my top and holding onto (groping LOL) my right boob!
Does anyone else's bub do this? It's cute I think (except when she pinches my nipple ), but some people find it a bit confronting and act all funny like its really unusual??? Including two people who have breastfed their kids to 12 months (but not past, I only know one IRL and thats my mum, but thats another story lol). I think jazz started a few months ago, she may or may not have been 12 months can't remember exactly.
It's not like I have my other side hanging out, Jazz just likes to hold on and make sure it doesn't fly off I suppose ROFL!!!
So, make me feel normal, because I'm SURE theres other bubs/toddlers out there who have a grope while they're feeding!!!!!!
My DD is a little bit younger than yours... she hasn't groped my other boob yet BUT she ALWAYS gropes my nipples and gives me nipple cripples and laughs!!!! It really hurts!!! haha it is pretty cute though....i'm saying "noooo" but she just thinks its even funnier
In China with my family earlier this year we were walking through the thousand year old Buddhist Grotto at Dazu near Chonqing. There, meters high, carved into the rock wall was a mother feeding her young child (looked maybe 3 or 4 years old) The child was standing up, feeding from one breast and twiddling the nipple on the other side.
I could so relate! So, yes, I think children have been doing this since time began. To me, it was like nails on a chalkboard - and I quickly put a stop to it. (Twiddling - not breastfeeding - that kept going for many years!)
I watched a friend's DS (ages about 20months) do this once and i swear, he was very knowlingly triggering a stronger letdown. He would twiddle for a bit, then sigh and suck quietly for a few moments, then back for a little twiddle (keeping his hand on the other boob but still in between). I admit i find it annoying too, but you have to admire a little technician working the equipment so expertly
That's ridiculous that anyone would find that confronting... or maybe I'm just unusual. I think it's cute.
DS 3 is still very possessive of my boobs, even though he hasn't been breastfed since he was 12 months, and when he was little and breastfeeding he would do similar things. And he still pats me there if he gets a chance. It's completely not sexual. To him it's like cuddling a comforter. That is all. What is inappropriate is other's that think it is somehow sexual. And no I don't encourage him but I don't make a big deal out of it, as he's only patting etc if he were still groping I'd probably tell him not to as I'd find it damn annoying LOL!
Shanti, OUCH at the nipple cripples, Jazz gives mine a go sometimes, especially at night if I'm shirtless!
LOL Barb, I just had to go google that image, hahaha cute!
Rouge, I know what you mean. I assume they find it confronting with their tone when they say "uh, don't you find that a bit weird?" Uh, no, in fact I'd never taken much notice until you felt the need to comment...
It's been playing on my mind since I got back from our time away, I guess I've noticed it a bit more since then.
My ds, when he was breastfed, would play with the other one. Not with the nipple, just the breast as a whole. He's no longer breastfed( for about a yr now ;( ) and when I pick him up his hands quite often go down my top or he'll pull it down to see my boobs. Cute but frustrating especially in public
My DD does this with my belly button and a mole on my tummy. She used to do it with a small mole on my face or my nose, but that got painful and annoying! I wish I'd put a stop to the belly button thing too. But I think most littlies like to fiddle while they're feeding, it's just that whatever's closest at hand cops it!
So I wouldn't find it weird - but I might feel sorry for you if I saw it because I so understand!
Jack will climb up next to me on the lounge, lift my shirt and start playing with my nipple. (I usually go bra-less when not expecting visitors) I'll say to him "would you like a drink?" he then starts to giggle, jumps off the lounge and runs away
Also if I am getting dressed/undressed in front of him, he points at my boobs and just cracks up laughing!!
it wasn't until you posted Leash that I noticed. I almost always keep the other nipple covered cause I can't stand it being played with while feeding - a bit like nails on a chalk board. But I was holding him the other day and he was playing with my nipple, it was your post that made me 'notice'. He pats them and put's his hand down my top but it is a comfort thing.
On a side note LOL @ Jack Marlene - DS knows that it is bath, boob and bed and he likes to prolong the process as much, so I will ask if he wants 'boo' and get the nooooo response, I pat them and he smiles but says nooooo then I flash and he says no but he just can't resist them and starts to laugh/hyperventalite (ITMS) it is such a crack up.
DD smacks the boobie (sometime a little harder than I would like ) for an increased let down and DS still sticks his hand down my top between my boobs as a comfort thing. I don't think it is unusual - the breasts are comforting. As an ample busted woman, many babies settle beautifully on my *cushions* - that's their job
DS2 not so much, though he does punch the side he is on with the arm closest to me.
But DS1 used to do it all the time, you dont mind so much at home but out and about is another story.
Yep. DS is always sticking his hands down my top and likes to twiddle when feeding. It bugs me
He is also quite proprietal - waves bye-bye when I put my bra on
DD slaps my boob too on the side she is feeding on.... I didn't realise that was them trying to get a faster let down happening? I thought it was just her mucking around!!
LOL! My DH would come into the room and say "what was that slap?" haha
